He said:
* NO you can't come to the band room * NO you can't get on the track * NO you can't walk into the game with the band
...he ain't say nothing about the practice field and trust the band alums will be there 😆

The practice field was implied also.
He does not want former band geeks within a 2 mile radius of the current band at any time next weekend.

No, he specifically said that he had already reached his quota for band geeks next week and there was no more room in the Inn.
Yall need to take a hint. Leave the current Machine alone. Do not pass Go; do not collect $200.

Lol This has as much to do with safety as it does for convience. With the spread of Covid as well as fights and mass shooting, everybody needs to stay in their lanes.

Could it possibly be one of the reasons why we haven’t increased the size of BGMM over the years, because we don’t have a facility capable of holding band room practice. Just wondering since he doesn’t have the room to allow visitors including band alumni.

It said on the flyer that this year's band was significantly larger. Sounds like they have increased the size of the BGMM.

Yeah that’s right, but as usual my sentences weren’t written in a way to express what I was trying to say. What I meant was, now that BGMM is larger, he doesn’t have the room to allow crowds to stop by and hang out, and over the years knowing that the slightest increase in size would overcrowd the band room. And maybe over the years past felt like we don’t have the room here to be a large, large band.

This is disappointing. Embracing alumni and seeing them celebrate the cultural pageantry that is unique to our schools is something that I and so many Black college alumni really look forward to. I am sure folks may remember this clip that went viral of a former Ebony Fire dancer at Hampton University leading the other alumni dancers/majorettes last year. See the clip below: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AujXUG7XU6MWe have traditionally done the same every year dating back at least 30 years or more and I love to see each generation of drum majors and Golden Delight dancers doing their thang. I will take Ruff at his word that the band room is too small, but I am not certain what the harm is to allow past dancers and drum majors on the track to do their thang as the band marches in. Maybe he is sending a message that band alumni need to donate more in order to have access. I don't really know....but I do know that I am going to miss this tradition and I am sure I am not alone.

He said no, we can’t get you in the game for free…be an adult and buy a ticket.

Dr Ruff is focused on the Rose Bowl fundraising and possibly getting another check from ESPN.

Agree with the principle but the messaging and framing is poor.
