We finished middle of the pack last year with one of the worst coaching staffs in college basketball.
Even with the player losses, I think we should be respectable if Coach Ross knows what he is doing. There are still a lot of scrub programs in this conference.

i agree, i expect us to be "respectable" but i also think picking us dead last makes sense. i mean, we essentially have an entirely brand new roster and most of them are "very young", plus add to that a brand new coaching staff to boot. almost none of these guys have played organized ball together before and none of these guys have been coached by our new coaching staff before.
i expect to see a consistently "competitive" team this season. i did not say a "winning" team, though that's more preferable. just be "competitive", meaning don't get "blown out" game in, game out and have a "chance" to win most games...

No concern over this ranking. We were picked somewhere around 11 last year and finished in the middle of the pack with what was not with the greatest coaching staff or the most coachable players. It's all relative. IMO, I think we'll finish the season even or slightly ahead of where we finished last year.
My beef is with the women being picked in the middle of the pack with most of the team returning from a 4th-place regular season finish in 2022. With some new additions to our perimeter game and Kelly Darks back to finish up, the Lady Aggies are a definitely championship caliber team this year and some basketball media experts reputations are going to get exposed for picking them so low.

i dunno, i don't mind being picked last given the circumstances. however, what i do like about it is that it gives our guys and coaches "major motivation" to prove them wrong. "disrespect" is one of the significant motivators (if not "the" most significant) when it comes to athletics.
if being disrespected (whether by the media or opponents) doesn't motivate you as an athlete, then something is wrong with you...

Respect is earned not given. We didn't exactly come in and dominate last season. We also flopped in the tournament. I'm sure they're very familiar with our new head coach as well.
Sit back and let the chips fall where the may. None of us know what to truly expect from the team this season...

Yeah. I was a bit surprised by the women's ranking. Maybe they believe loss of Harris was a big enough issue. And we didn't bring in any transfers, that I know of, who would be thought of as making a difference. Hopefully Shaq can answer the bell. |

Polls don't matter because Polls change as the reason progresses 3. I think that all games are winnable going in, if you prepare, execute, make adjustments and play to your strengths and there weaknesses. Those are just everyday simple FACTS not only in athletics but in life . Give them a try 😆 SMIB RESPECT. |
