The 49ers drafted Frank Gore at running back in the third round. That's either good news or bad news for Mo Hicks. It's good news if they plan to cut Barlow, bad news if they plan to cut Mo.
I read where several in the organization aren't sold on Mo as an every down back because of his size.

I saw that too. Gore is a little banged up, aint he?

I tend to view Mo as a Dave Meggett situational back rather than an every down back only because of his size.

Mo doesn't have a large contract so I think it's Barlowe that needs to be worried.

By the way do you think AP can waive bye bye in Chicago?

Shoot, didn't know he was still there.
I think with Barlow it depends on what kinda cap hit they'll take and whether the new coaching staff is sold on him.
At worst they can switch him and Gore like Atlanta did with Duckett and Dunn. Or he can put on 10 pounds and shut everybody up about his "lack of size".

It's going to be hard for both Hicks and Deloatch.
Gore is a 3rd pick so he aint going nowhere. Barlow's cap hit would be too big, so he aint going nowhere.
They are only going to keep 3 rbs. So he is going to have to beat out Terry Jackson on special teams.
Also, you've got to remember that Hicks was Erickson's man. With a new coach and GM, he might want to purge the roster.
The good thing is that Hicks has shown enough that he'll get another shot, if he is released.
The Giants also drafted a CB in the 2nd round. To go with Will Allen & Peterson. So Deloatch is going to have to win that Dime corner position.

Hicks can beat out Jackson (I hope). Hell, he pretty much beat out Barlow.
As for Deloatch, I don't know how much he played. But he is a big corner and he'll have that in his favor as long as he continues to develop.

Deloatch played alot as a gunner on special teams and he got some run in passing situations, at the end of the year.
Coughlin kept him as an undrafted free agent, even after the muffed punts. So hopefully he will learn and have some good mini camps.
