Two Hoggard football players add Richmond offers

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Two football players at Hoggard High School picked up offers from Richmond on Monday, according to their Twitter accounts.
Offensive lineman Jason Smith and defensive lineman Malakahi West both added Richmond offers.
Smith is a 6-foot-3, 270-pound interior offensive lineman and a member of the Class of 2024.
Smith already has a number of offers on the table, including from Air Force, Army, Charleston Southern, Mercer, Navy, NC A&T, and William & Mary.
West stands at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds. Last season, he recorded 73 tackles, 37.5 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, 41 quarterback hurries, seven pass breakups, and four forced fumbles.

After his junior season last fall, West earned a spot on the HighSchoolOT All-State Team.
According to his Twitter account, West has offers from Army, Colgate, Elon, Howard, Navy, NC A&T, and NC Central.
Hoggard posted an 8-4 record in 2022, advancing to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs where it lost to eventual state champion New Bern 21-0.
