Eaves also desparately needs some SHOOTERs (team can't make shots if you paid them to), and he needs to teach his players how to play against a zone defense. Question: I know a kid in our neighborhood. He's 5'11 point guard. He's quick, leads his team in scoring (17 ppg), shoots over 50% from 3 pt, 88% FT out-of-state. Right now he's getting looks from DII schools. Good academics, not great. Don't know if his parents would even consider school 1500 miles away. Does Eaves look at people who contact him first? If so, what's the best way to go about it?

Losing close games...mind you each one has been on the road...isn't coaching ON THIS LEVEL OF BASKETBALL.
I think Eaves has been outcoached only once in the conference - when he lost at home to Fang Mitchell in overtime.
Many of our losses are due to player inefficiencies:
1. No size to compete inside (Del State, Coppin, Hampton, NSU). 2. Free throw shooting.
Many of you are seeing this watching ACC, Big-10, Big-12, and Conference USA basketball on cable TV.
Those teams are stocked with top 25 to 100 talent. Those guys come from winning programs that KNOW how to win.
Look at where our guys came from. Two walkons from Dudley (winning program, but 1 state title in Price's career), another one a from mediocre program (Northwood).
You have to remember that Eaves has just 3 of his recruited scholarship players returning next year.
Jeff Alvis and Greg Davis were 12th men at DI schools before coming here two years ago. He got them just to have some semblance of a team.
Eaves kids Wills - St. John's College (ranked in national top 30) Guions - North Hardin (small school) Booker - Ballard (powerhouse)
Non Eaves kids on scholarship Booth - The Heights (middle of the pack private school) Crumpton - Livingston (decent 2A school, like Thomasville)

How did Roberts and Powell get to A&T? Eaves has a rough road ahead of him, and if he loses next season he will more than likely be out of a job. Hopefully, he will survive by producing a winning program. I don't base my opinions on major college games. It is from the experience of watching hundreds of games in Moore Gym and Corbett Center as well as on the road to tournaments.

Eaves is safe so long as he wins a few more games next season than he did this season. The fans, alumni and administrators all love the guy. Small is the one in trouble. Another season like last year from him might get him his walking papers.

Roberts is a walk-on from West Charlotte
Powell is Eaves kid he brought with Alvis, to have some semblance of depth at point guard, but his midseason benching has pretty much showed that he's in the doghouse.
