Division I Men’s Basketball Recruiting CalendarFor the men’s basketball recruiting evaluation periods, there are two different kinds of evaluation periods that take place. During the April evaluations, coaches can only evaluate recruits at NCAA-certified events. If you are on an AAU team or participating in a club basketball tournament at that time, chances are, it’s an NCAA-certified event. You can always double check if the event is NCAA-certified before you attend. During the remainder of the evaluation periods, all live evaluations must take place at a regularly scheduled high school, prep school or two-year college tournament, practice or game. Again, it’s important to know when the evaluations can happen, but chances are, the coach will let you know when they plan to visit you during this time. Based on the below tables, I don't know if we will have many scholarships available to bring in new recruits. If accurate, on paper the new coach has only 1 scholarship to offer because we already have 1 commit plus 11 scholarship players (exclude Senior player) and the total number of scholarships we can carry each year is 13. This may not take into account the 2 recent transfers. HIGH COMMITS OFFERS SCHOOL YEAR HS2023: 1 23 HS2024: 0 23 HS2025: 0 9 SCHOLARSHIPS BY CLASS Seniors: 1 Juniors: 3 Sophomores: 6 Freshmen: 2 verbalcommits.com/schools/north-carolina-a-t

Verbal commits is notoriously in error on both their scholarship count and classifications. Based on our recent portal entries, graduations and the correct eligibility classifications, the next coach will have three scholarship slots available to him and possibly a fourth, if Harry Morrice decides to forgo his extra medical redshirt year.

And I believe that's if he doesn't jettison some scholarship players he's not interested in keeping, right?

That is always a possibility, but that would be a highly unlikely occurrence in year one under a new coach and staff. Guys opting for the portal? Yes. A new coach running players off? No.

Then "on paper" Verbal Commit is accurate as to the number of available scholarships and verbal commitments currently. Technically, they could not count the 2 transfers at this time because its just a submission of your name to the portal. The players could decide to pull out their names after the naming of the new coach or before that. But we on this forum can say "unofficially" that A&T has 3 or greater scholarships to recruit players. We have always been too guard heavy even in the MEAC and need to do a better job recruiting Bigs to balance out the team to provide more variety offensive and defensive attack strategies as well as depth. Injuries are apart of sports, but the good teams make no excuses and still find ways to win, i.e. Hofstra upset of Rutgers last night with key players missing. A talent deeper bench makes a coach look much smarter because it increases his options.

A coach has limited options in taking away a player's scholarship without looking bad in the eyes of the school and public. One bad move and this could tank your marketability to recruits. Mention of reduced playing time worked for Deion in persuading some players to transfer. He has the name recognition to bring in talented walk-ons to start over scholarship players and get the walk-ons NIL deals so they don't have to worry about funds to pay for school. Well we can do the first part of threatening to reduce a player's playing time, but I doubt we can execute successfully the 2nd part.

Marcus Watson has entered the portal I'm late to the party, & I'm sure it's been said already, but... We were his 3rd college. Whomever takes a shot at him is taking a risk. If he were an employee seeking to join your organization, and you saw 3 different jobs at 3 different employers in 4 years, there should be some trepidation. If not, don't complain about the performance and outcomes. Someone MAY have said this already, but I won't be agitated if one more hits the portal as well. #commondenominator

What does this tweet by Kam Woods mean after Powell's tweet?
I think you should send my cash app instead of both of them 🤔
