Bro if they play one game on ESPNU and it’s not just one then they in one game already blew us out the water in exposure. CBS sports does not even compare to ESPNU.. The fact is the MEAC and SWAC have signed a 6 year deal with ESPN for football and basketball. Whatever the deal is it will be better than Flo Sports. There is a reason no other conference gives them exclusive rights. These are just facts. I still asking, what exposure? Where and when can I find the basketball games? What are the details of the 6 year deal? Are you referring to the Celebration Bowl deal?

The SWAC is getting $3M over 4 years...ESPN keeps the advertising dollars and pays peanuts. SWAC and MEAC have 4 games a year on ESPNU vs CBSSN An ESPN source said ESPNU’s distribution is closer to 54 million currently. 1.10.2022 As of May 2015, CBSSN was available to approximately 61 million pay television households (66.1% of households with cable television) in the United States.[2][3]

That's a revenue and viewership response to my viewing access question. So, I can't see regularly scheduled MEAC basketball games on any platform (except HBCU night on ESPNU)? What about the tourney early rounds?

I went to ESPN+ for the broadcast channel - nothing. Then I went to MEAC website. *All tournament games will be broadcast live on ESPN networks, with channel designation to be determined.
Looks like it will be a game time decision. MEAC Tourney - link

The facts are and remain my initial statement. Exposure. The deals are bad I’m both conferences (which also is further evidence that it’s not just HBCUS that get screwed) but when talking exposure is not even comparable. If your on your own to get local advertising dollars on both platforms then none of what the conference makes means a hill of beans to me.
I am concerned about the exposure of our University and our players in a world where that means absolutely everything. Some people will be concerned over what the conference makes but I tell you who will never ask that question; players … exposure brings in way more $ than is calculated in these deals, as we all know the benefit of the celebration bowl just didn’t give us a million dollars.
I have not seen the data but I would like to see the difference in households between Flo sports streaming and ESPN Plus

Lol .. I am not interested in houses available .. that is not a valid measurement. Does anyone have actual viewership numbers .. how many people tuned into FloSports streaming and how many people tuned into ESPN Streaming.. we could go even further and ask how many tuned into a mid major game on ESPN U and a mid major game on CBSSports .. Maybe I’m completely wrong .. maybe FloSports has a better reach than ESPN - maybe it’s even. But my guess is that it’s a huge disparity .

You have a point today .. but I’m more concerned with the tomorrow. Let’s imagine a scenario where what we do does matter. What if we are 2,3 in the conference instead of 6th with upset wins over Hofstra, UNC Wilmington and Towson… it would be of national interest to people who follow sports and def to the HBCU audience. But no one can watch it. Because no one has flo sports. Now you tell the recruit that unless you do ridiculous monster dunks like Marcus Watson that gets retweeted outside of flo sports the chances of you getting exposure in one of those games is limited... The best possible scenario is CBS sports… I want to be excited about this move but there should be real concern on how much exposure we are able to generate. I feel like our presence benefits the conference to make deals but I’m not sure we get the same return - not in $ and not exposure.. are we isolating ourselves? These are legit questions that I hope we are strategically thinking about.

I expect (actually know) you'll find out that there are HBCU fans (students, alumni, family, friends, etc.) from A&T and Hampton that have Flo. Before we and Hampton moved to the CAA, there was no reason to have Flo to watch HBCU sports because there were no HBCU's in conferences that use Flo. I expect there will be a few "other" HBCU folks to get Flo to watch us and Hampton, but probably very few. I believe the biggest audience will be friends and families of the kids at the Flo schools. They're able to watch their family/friends much more than what MEAC & SWAC family and friends are able to do with the ESPN (+, U, 3) broadcasts. I see VERY FEW MEAC & SWAC ESPN games. All that said, I don't like Flo!

I'm having trouble connecting their relationship with CBS Plus after finding that I could watch Paramount or Hulu and get the same results . I have the one year package with Flo sports. So I'm locked in but at the end of my contract I will decide if I'm staying with them .

I understand there will be a few HBCU fans from Hampton that tune into watch the game. But that is 1/10000 of HBCU fans. Sorry but Hampton is not an HBCU powerhouse in terms of fan base. The reason why ESPN put HBCUS live on ESPN why they would come air us in one week against NCCU and then turn around and air the rematch the next week was because of nationwide HBCU audience. It’s why the celebration bowl does so well. We all know this there is no need to pretend the significance of HBCU audiences. And 85% of that audience does not have FloSports. Period.
All I’m saying is that we need to have serious discussions on that reality and how do we strategically plan to address it. Otherwise we will become TSU. Which is my biggest #1 concern.
Linear deals can happen and we need them. But how do we do linear deals when we all know A&T brand is a National brand. We have to press these issues. But this situation is very delicate and we alone have to make sure this work. FloSports 100% cannot get us there. So what’s the plan ?
