Almost did. My financial advisor told me to sit.
My in-laws have them. They seem satisfied. My cousin in law sold them to them so 🤷🏾♂️

I've had mine for 5 years now. I love them. March-October my electric bill is normally less than $20/mth. Nov-Feb with less daylight is where the bill starts to creep back closer to normal.

i think solar panels are an "eye sore". i ain't putting that crap on top of my house! i don't think they save a "significant" amount money where i live in maryland.
my frat brutha has been trying to sell me solar panels for years but i don't think the savings are significant enough for me to "f" up my roof with those "eye sores"...

I've tried to convince my wife that it would be cost-effective to install Solar panels, but she doesn't like their appearance. When I asked my engineering son his opinion, he encouraged me to hold off. Said that installation cost currently was too high, and technology was rapidly changing. Suggested that major improvements were coming.

Meh, they can be eye an eyesore if they're on the front of your house. It's all dependent on which way your house is positioned. They're typically installed facing the southern direction.
My panels are on the rear of my house, out of site out of mind. NC had several incentives, energy tax credits and rebates at the time of purchase for me which made it easily affordable.
Solar panels (photovoltaic panels) technology has been around forever. The newer concept now is home power storage for surviving electrical outages. The panels keep a battery bank fully charged for energy back up at your disposal. It has an automatic transfer switch which keeps your power on uninterrupted. I wish I would've made that more of a priority at the time.
You don't truly reap the benefits of the solar panels until it's paid off. You're paying on a greatly reduced power bill to your power company while simultaneously paying the solar system company monthly until the system is paid off. What you're saving in energy you're breaking even by paying on the solar system.
The faster you pay it off the quicker you'll be smiling in the end for future decades.

I'm a little surprised the HOA is allowing them. All the homes are two story and some southern exposures fortunately are in the back not visible from the street. One dude has about 25 panels on his roof. He has to be selling energy back to the utility company.
