Coach Jones' philosophy is similar to that of Jerry Eaves who was also a first time head coach. It was a up tempo 3-point shooting crap shoot every game. His bet was that he would get up more shots than the opponent and more than half of them would be threes. This is what he gave us for nine years. A 35.5% winning percentage and one .500 season. Jones' record will be a little better because he has better talent, but he's also playing against better competition. Jones also plays better defense. But he has to revisit his approach to the game. PLEASE!!!!! Don't waste the talent that you attract. How did we accept this kind of record from Eaves for NINE years? Colin Smith UCF transfer can start practicing after December 2. I know him. Where does anyone see that Colin Smith averaged 20-22 pts? I don't know. Here are his highlights from the last season he played. I still think he and Powell combined will add +15 points to the scoring output (which would have us with only one loss this season in theory). Or at least in my dreams. LOL R-Junior (2019-20) • Appeared in and started all 30 games, averaging 26.3 minutes per game • Led the Knights in scoring and ranked 18th in the league with 12.6 points per game • Was second on the team and 12th in the conference with 6.3 rebounds per game • Scored in double figures in 22 games • Ranekd ninth in The American with a 46.3 percent mark from the field • Took at least one charge in 22-of-30 games and had 30 total charges on the season • Was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll twice (11/25, 12/16) • Prairie View A&M (11/9): Scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds, had four assists in blocked two shots • at Illinois State (11/17): Scored 18 points and grabbed six boards • Charleston (11/23): Led UCF with 23 points and eight rebounds, hitting two free throws with 13 seconds left to get the win • vs. Penn (11/28): Scored 22 points and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds for first double-double of the season • vs. Charleston (12/1): Led the Knights with 19 points and nine rebounds, while dishing out a season-high five assists • Sacred Heart (12/15): Had 14 points with 10 rebounds • at Houston (1/3): Had 11 points and 11 rebounds • at SMU (1/8): Scored 19 points and had game-high eight rebounds • Cincinnati (1/11): Had 19 points and nine rebounds with four assists • Memphis (1/29): Scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds • at Cincinnati (2/19): Scored 17 points with six rebounds and five assists before fouling out in OT • Tulane (2/22): Scored 16 points and grabbed 13 boards while going 6-of-6 from the line • at UConn (2/26): Led the Knights with 17 points and had six rebounds • SMU (3/4): Scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, going 9-for-11 from the free throw line
