"Today" we're not known for our distance runners but I never underestimate our student athletes. I'm not saying this will happen overnight but I really think coach Ross has a plan to have us seriously compete in every aspect of track and field. We weren't known for our National or Olympic track talent either but that quickly changed in the blink of an eye. In the words of Jessie..."Keep hope alive!"

We weren't known for our National or Olympic track talent either but that quickly changed in the blink of an eye. In the words of Jessie..."Keep hope alive!" i hear ya. but in “team” track and field, it is very difficult to excel in every single event. from distance runners to sprinters to multiple field event tracksters like jumpers and discus/shot put throwers, its hard to excel in them all. however, in track and field, “sprint races” are the glamor events that everybody luv to see, especially the relays. so if i had to pick a specialty to build my team around, indeed it would be “sprinters”. sprinters can compete in multiple events including field events (long jump, triple jump, high jump) thereby earning the team more points. whereas distance runners “usually” only compete in 1 event if its 1500m or more, thereby earning fewer points than most sprinters. i agree with you that coach ross will continue to strengthen all other aspects of the team along with sprinting. i’m like you, i want to win “everything”. but given the current status of our track team, i can live with a competitive cross country team that’s not quite up to par with our dual “top 5” men’s and women’s track program...
