www.wtvr.com/news/local-news/prince-george-track-star-overcomes-health-hurdles-on-the-way-to-his-goalsPRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Javonte Harding learned at a young age that running track would be the sport for him. "I was about seven or eight," said Harding. With the help of his brother, the sport became his passion. "Outside of my parents, my brother is the one person I would right after every race, would call me, tell me if it was good or bad," stated Harding. It wasn't long after his first track meet that Javonte dealt with his first hurdle. "As a kid, it wasn't much I was able to understand," Harding mentioned. Javonte was diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss. A condition that stops him from understanding sound, it can be found in one ear or it can be recognized as being a loss of hearing in both ears.

There's a recurring story of A&T giving kids a chance to be great when others didn't see it.

the hearing issue may contribute to his seemingly slow starts. If so, the 400 may be in his future. He was on the 4x4 team at the MEAC but i did not see his split.

I wonder if this played into his performance in the finals of the 200 in Eugene. At first, I thought that he pulled up due to injury, but maybe he didn't hear the gun

While he didn’t get a chance to compete because of injury, just having the opportunity to compete for your country is something he will always remember.

There will be plenty more opportunities for Him. I said it once and i'll say it again, he's gonna be a problem for these other schools over the next 3 years and definitely see him in the next wave of NCAA champions that we celebrate.
