How does the promoter of this event make any money?
It looks like there were about 50 people inside that building, not counting the other bands.

Was wondering same thing since director indicating during an interview that all bands received all expense travel to participate. I have to assume the corporate partnerships, which included a title sponsor, a presenting sponsor, multiple other corporate level sponsors and even a few local relationships, more than made up for expenses.

My guess is that sponsorships covered expenses and scholarships. The Webber Foundation (Derrick Webber) seems to operating this year as a non-profit to provide band scholarships. This year they garnered 18 corporate sponsors with Cracker Barrel being the title sponsor and Pepsi Zero Sugar being the presenting sponsor. The gate seemed to be a portion but not the primary source of revenue www.nationalbattleofthebands.com/

Good showing by A&T but, as far as execution, they were on point. All of the big bands made mistakes on the field...yes including BcU. They had a tuba strike out going to the next position by himself, Southern and Tenn State dropped their drums. And Talladega is a hot mess on the field, which I cannot understand, they have no football team. So A&T showed very well...

So break it down for all us non-band experts.
What criteria are these schools being judged by to determine if their performance was good or not? Is it the song selection, formations ... what?

You can actually watch this remotely, and people do? Are there scorecards?
