How does the promoter of this event make any money? It looks like there were about 50 people inside that building, not counting the other bands. I'll try to find some vids/pics, but it was quite full on the "Home" side. Those sideline seats were made available at the last minute. I was in Attendance, AND "AGGIES" were in DA HOUSE! AGGIES DO!

They is no scorecard or anything but, for a bandhead, we look at execution and precision. The average fan/person may not pay attention to the details but, as I stated last night, every big band had a major malfunction in their show. Even a layman could see. I will say though, no band stood head and shoulders above the others. So, where the big bands were king in sound, they lacked in execution and precision in the field show. My opinion Norfolk and A&T were the best as far as all around performance. Now, I say again, all the big bands had a major mistake in the shows...that's Jackson, Southern, BCU, Tenn State and Talladega. Langston did okay as well.

It's been two decades since I've heard the second half of Velvet Rope SMH!!!! Say what? There's a part two? Not really. But the second half of the song used to feel very different than it has the past few years. Lower brass was a lot heavier, and every video people would rave about that wall of sound. The last few years people would say nice song, if anything, and move on.

This is the best the trombones have sounded in a LONG time, maybe ever. The whole band sounds and looks great. Everyone - from students, to staff, to arrangers - was on it. They look tiny compared to the other bands there. Almost makes you want to bring back the Small Band with the Big Sound.

They're great on the field, but they left a lot to be desired in the stands. If you watch a few of the YouTube reaction videos none of them knew wtf we were playing in the stands lol. It was our first outing so judgement is reserved.

Couldn't recognize the music? Was anyone commenting on the You Tube videos over 30?

No seriously, that was a good show...but, my concern was the tuba solo on As We Lay but, it worked.

It was our first outing so judgement is reserved. Its always been stated, MEAC bands were never really "Stand battle" ready when compared to what the SWAC brings out. But they will hold their own with quality arrangements.

Is that because we just dont have the staff leaders who are able to design a good stand routine?

They definitely sound great, no arguments there at all. Hands down the musicianship is second to none. The field shows and drills are very technical and exciting. The only gripe was the stand song selection. It works well when playing MEAC competition, but when you're in a BOTBs in SWAC country or with SWAC schools you would think we would showcase our diversity by displaying the best of both worlds. Thomas Jones was great with his stand tunes and arrangements with intensity.
