I don't think so! It's to early to tell.
Though she has impressive credentials; earned her undergraduate degree at A&T in accounting, graduating as valedictorian, Wooten earned an MBA from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business; a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business; and received a certificate in Advanced Educational Leadership from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. That also includes a successful progression up the academic ladder.
But that raises a question, what boxes does the next Chancellor need to check?
1. Proven leadership skills 2. Able to articulate a rational vison 3. Adept at managing all areas of the University by putting the right people in place. 4. Knowledge/experience in the NC political structure 5. An understanding of the role and significance of collegiate athletics 6. Active engagement in managing the financial, academic, research, real estate, alumni and student growth. 7. ? 8. ? 9. ? 10.?
In other other words an academically and athletically inclined social activist genius unicorn with with the winning tickets for Powerball and Mega Million already signed over to the University.

Her appointment would expose her to all of those areas, she could basically study under Martin for a couple of years.

Her appointment to the BOT is a good thing, but I wouldn’t consider meeting 4 times a year (if available) studying under the Chancellor. However, Dr. Beryl McEwen, the current Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs may not have academic pedigree of Dr. Wooten, but is studying under the Chancellor on a daily basis.

I hope the BOT is thinking seriously about finding and preparing Dr. Martin's replacement when he finally retires. His replacement is going to have a tough time because he's done a fantastic job positioning A&T as a top university.

We need a candidate that the GOP can not say no to, someone with stellar credentials like Dr Wooten. Her being a black female with degrees from Duke and Michigan along with Ivy League experience and currently the sitting president of an university ranked #133 in national rankings it will be hard to find a better candidate than her. This is chess We could end up in a Fayetteville state kind of situation. It would be hard for the state to not pick her

She doesn’t need to understudy, She’s already the president of a private university of 4500 students in the heart of Boston. Her addition to the BOT will be valuable as we move into a space with primarily private institutions.

Looks like a pretty good candidate to put in the pool when the time comes.

Looks like a pretty good candidate to put in the pool when the time comes. You don't understand. She makes over a $1 million now. She also won't be on the shortlist from the BOG. It's going to be someone that aligns politically with Peter Hans. We gotta potentially start thinking of any prominent Black Conservatives in NC that would possibly have a remote interest in becoming a Chancellor. Our best hope is for Chancellor Martin to outlast Peter Hans' appointment as BOG president.
