Have I missed something here ? The state of NC is not going to just let him leave until after his hearing on trial . I have family in law enforcement unless he flipped on someone are made some sort of plea deal or found to be innocent there is no way he is going to Southern until this is over with.

He's free on bond. As long as he makes his court dates he can travel or do whatever. His case most likely will not go to trial for at least a couple of months at the earliest. His lawyer is most likely working on a plea agreement and will appear for him at any preliminaries until then.

The court system would not let me leave the state of NC because I would not except a plea agreement. If it was not for judge Frye I would not have been able to transfer to WT under parole conditions . But I guess aggravated assault charges on Judge differently .

Crimes of violence are treated far more seriously than drug or property crimes and rightfully so.
There are specific considerations magistrates and judges take into account in setting pretrial release conditions under state and local rules and although they may differ slightly in procedure between the various judicial districts, they are generally uniform in weighing aggravating factors for bond hearings.

I am sure his attorney is postering that Lyons made some bad choices but he is in school and probably within a year of graduating.
But it seems SU taking a big risk if his case is not settled

That maybe true but in Texas a drug crime that includes a stolen firearms carries just as much weight as having aggravated factors attached . But it is my gut feeling that he is not leaving the State until after his judicial hearings and even then if he is found to be guilty and given probation or adjudication with cause he will not be leaving NC unless he is found to be innocent. It's not like he can not attend and play ball at any of the number of schools in NC ,Va or SC but all the way to Louisiana with all the Drug activities on interstate 20 & 10 no I'm not seeing him at Southern no time soon .

Even he is adjudicated guilty, it is common practice with a probationary sentence, to transfer supervision of nonviolent probationers under interstate compact reciprocal agreements between states to the state where the convicted will be residing. North Carolina has such an agreement with the state of Louisiana and 32 additional states with the presiding judge's approval and with that of the Department of Corrections.

I'm all for the young Man getting a second chance, but seems a little premature for Southern to be picking him up before his case is adjudicated. Those are some pretty serious charges. Makes Southern look a little desperate and would be a bad look if things don't go well with his case.

I watched their last SWAC tournament game. He looks bigger and better. Unfortunately, he missed like 4 out of 5 free throws near the end of the game that were critical and they lost.
