It is hard not to be judgemental... I will say that this is selfish on his part. The attitude needs to be "next man up".

Lyons was my favorite player since day one when he was a freshman. I have been debating this situation ever since I heard of it. I am saddened for him but also saddened for our school and basketball program.
Everything happens for a reason. I just don't know what the reason is in this situation.
I hope him the best in the future and hope that he get the proper help in all areas to give him a new chance in life.

Due to the amount of weed in the car, the $5,000 in cash and a weapon. He will probably do some time. Don't feel sorry for him. He wasn't concerned about the university or the basketball team when he made the decision to become a dealer. The cornerstone of a university is its students and its educational prowess. Athletics is almost a by product or after thought, but we really ENJOY the games.

Just curious. Do our coaches or athletic department test our athletes for illegal drug use on a regular basis?
Did anyone notice signs of drug use by Lyons?
Even though he was my favorite player I was disappointed of his progress this year after this being his 3rd year.
He played ok but I thought his scoring average would have been higher and his game would have been more consistent.

Hey big peete some do get high on the supply. That is a fact.
The sheriff that came to their aid on the side of the road smelled the odor of Marijuana coming from the car. That is why he began to investigate them.
Don't know if he was smoking in the car but he had to inhale the smoke whether he was or not.

This reminds me when Carl Hubbard got busted assistant coach to Coach Irvin and the media narrative that ensued.Aggie Basketball took a hit for a period. This situation really says a lot about the program perhaps this being the lackadaisical approach to the game. This is ugly with the gun thing from Rocky Mount stolen? Man wow. This matter needs fixing all the way through.

The fact that he smelled marijuana doesn't necessarily mean they were smoking in the car . This new weed ,sometimes called Kush,or loud ,or loud pack is so potent that the smell can be detected without having been smoked . The officer can smell raw(unsmoked) ,or burnt(smoked) weed .

Been out of action for a minute so I don't know the characteristics or the nomenclature of the new weed.
Regardless, they made a boo boo.

Irregardless obviously they were riding dirty, the odor gave probable cause or the officer use the smell of herb as a pretext as I have encountered as similar incident myself in a small town with my being boy scout clean so f the police.

That is there Probable Cause card . They use it when they can not justify the stop .
