I was there at the game. These ISU highlights make it look like we got shutout! 😡
Bird was really frustrated because most envisioned this being his breakout onto the national scene and he didn’t have a great game. I’d love to find the old box score from this one. Seems like Smooth Hank played well that night.

I believe Bird was being guarded by freshman Harold Royster.

yeah, bird was #20. that was actually one of our better teams under gene littles. these are "indiana state highlights", naturally they aren't gonna show aggie highlights. i'm pretty sure isu was a "top 20" ranked team at the time, to only lose to them by 19 points on their homecourt ain't such a bad loss...

I think ‘79 was the year ISU went undefeated until loosing to Magic and MSU in the championship game.

OSA, on the date that we played this game, Indiana State was ranked 9th in both the AP and UPI polls. This is the same season that the Sycamores lost the national title game to Magic Johnson and Michigan State.
Here are the polls on that date: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978%E2%80%9379_NCAA_Division_I_men%27s_basketball_rankings
