One school in particular I’ve been keeping my eye on before the hype is JSU and I will say they have a great social media presence, it’s like they got Steven Spielberg on campus with the type of content I’m seeing from them. Speaking of which: I just seen it

I see what you mean. A video game-like schedule intro on Twitter is way ahead of the curve. Good work, JSU.

To be honest with you guys, neither one of these videos is that good. Not the level of quality I'd expect from a first class university athletic program. Hell I bet the BGMM Video crew could do better than this over night. We got the talent on campus if we just used it.

The video game was creative. How much anyone gives a damn outside this thread is debatable. Boy, Sanders better wins some games.

Couple of things: A few months ago our local newspaper was gutted and two of the main guys who normally wrote about A&T sports (Jeff Mills and Ed Hardin) were laid off. Now they have one guy who previously focused solely on HS athletics doing pretty much everything. We dont have a dedicated A&T beat writer anymore. That move was probably triggered by the pandemic and the huge revenue losses that occurred when all local sports were cancelled this past fall. Likewise, I can't imagine A&T having a ton of money laying around to pay people to cover and promote sports that are currently not being played. Every local media entity that I know of has had to cut back in some form. I believe our athletic social media accounts were all managed by students who have since graduated. That is why our online social media engagements have dropped off so much. Brian Holloway and the SID staff do consistently good work, but I'm sure their budget is strapped also. Plus it is difficult to develop a comprehensive sports media strategy when you dont know what sports will actually be played and, really, if you personally will even have a job in a few months. To make a long story short, everybody at A&T is basically in a holding pattern trying to figure out what the next few months will look like. I will say that the athletic department zoom videos have been a nice touch. They just need to find a way to promote those better. Not a lot of people I talk to are even aware of them. I’m not to sure of A&Ts budget and what money they have laying around but what made me want to start this thread is me seeing smaller schools, with less look like they have a lot if that makes sense. One school in particular I’ve been keeping my eye on before the hype is JSU and I will say they have a great social media presence, it’s like they got Steven Spielberg on campus with the type of content I’m seeing from them. Kids are mostly only paying attention to social media I.e twitter, instagram when it comes to school athletics at the least. The majority aren’t interested in any other forums of media enough for them to have any type of presence i.e newspaper, or even zoom video conferences. I don’t want to offend anyone by saying this but that’s things the older generation enjoys, attention spans are way to short now a days to be interested in any of that. And as far as the not having sports to follow isn’t necessarily true people would love to see the behind the scenes aspect of things not just who we playing and who we played. There are some good things that I've taken note of from JSU that I think we can benchmark. So there was nothing wrong with this type of discussion post from my view, whether we agree or disagree. I do think that some of what we're looking is sport-specific. If we're talking football... A&T has been pretty dormant since the Fall Signing Day compared to JSU. A lot of that is a function of Coach Sam Washington having no social medial presence. We've always operated around that, and that won't change. But it clearly hasn't affected our recruiting because of our winning brand. Because we've won the Celebration Bowl SOOOOOO much (and FBS games)... we no longer need it to establish a winning brand. We just need to keep winning now within the rest of FCS to maintain it. I do think that Coach Prime has challenged & pushed JSU to use what it has (social media) to get more of what it doesn't have (revenue). It is interesting to note that Coach Prime is only 7 years younger than Coach Sam. But that's enough to provide a generational difference given their pro trajectories & backgrounds. But given the pandemic safeguards & constraints, I have no issues with less content right now. For example, our videographer didn't travel to SC State for either of the basketball weekends. So there was basically no content from those games because SC State doesn't stream. But aside from that, we've gotten the content from home games. And track & field... and baseball... and volleyball is coming on line. I think Coach Raduentz & softball may surprise some folks. Coach Kearney & Bowling are always going to be contenders. But resources definitely need to be prioritized to COVID-19 protocols over social media in a decision space. Anything less than that would be irresponsible, IMO.

I have read a few of the post on this thread and IMHO (over the past few years) we have come along way in our sports media content as well as quality. We may not be at the very top compared to other comparable schools, but we sure as heck are not at the bottom. In the overall scheme of things, I would not even put this in the top 5 things that need immediate attention as far as sports go. I'm sure we will automatically see even more improvement as we assimilate into the Big South. The Big South has a strong sports media presence and they put a lot of emphasis on the athlete.

My sources say Kernersville. The Aggie Dome is in use for weight room purposes while the Bryan Center is being refurbished.
