All they need to see is how a player does against top competition. Example: Denver drafted a Division III offensive lineman who showed his worth at the Senior Bowl. Mac will do well. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see him in person. Bingo, I was just telling someone our game against Duke will go a long way in determining where Martin goes in the draft and whether Leslie and others get on scouts radars. For our juniors it’s also an important game, lastly as we saw last night the NDSU game is important from a program perspective and individual draft perspective too. Next years senior class include: Martin, Leslie and Banks.

How many DBs do teams typically have on their final roster? 5 some times 6 but it really up to what the HC decides .

With the receiving corps we have now, shouldn’t be an issue. Likewise they’ll be practicing against top level dbs.
Would Mac have been the top db on the team had he returned? I assume so, just wondering what y’all think.

But back to McCain. McCain has a 50-50 chance at making it and getting some time. He takes chances and if he takes the right ones he will look like a steal. If he takes the wrong ones.....

We didn't get anyone drafted this year, but a free agent signing was still huge for McCain and A&T. He got just as much news and media as if he had gotten drafted. Mostly due to NO other HBCU player getting drafted, so they had to focus on him. We can take the W in this case.
Ironically, Bryan Mills, the DB from Central(that E Bell roasted all game) got signed by the Seahawks. Same team that worked Bell out. So you telling me that you worked out a WR and didn't sign him, but then turn around and sign the DB he made look like a little boy when they faced off? LOL

Coaches express frustration after no HBCU players were selected in the NFL draftwashingtonpost.comby adam kilgore 5/4/2021
“You can go back as far as you like, from Jerry Rice to Tarik Cohen,” North Carolina A&T Coach Sam Washington said. “The quality of the athlete is definitely within our league. Them being seen or not being seen, it happened. For what reasons, I have not figured that part out. But the fact is that it happened.”

not playing a full season last fall may have hurt the chances of some hbcu players... I have to disagree because out of the thousands of players that were draft worthy with only 7 rounds FCS, D-2 , NAIA and D-3 are at a total disadvantage from the start. And as far as the this spring season goes it would not have changed anything because you have to remember that they are still competing against the same FCS , D-3 , NAIA competition that they have already proven that they could stand apart from so playing in the spring would not have made a difference.

Just by watching the clip you can tell Surtain (I remember when his uncle was a qb at Bama State) already knows he’s a lock and Mac knows he has a lot to prove in order to stick.
if Denver has five ROOKIE dbs geez. How many do they have total?

Same story as 2020... still skipping FCS schools (outside of Trey Lance). Well it is the politicalization of the college football season in the midst of this Plandamit that impacted the draft. The HBCUS chose and I think wisely to forgo football this past season. Also remember the continual plot to eliminate HBCUS like the two year monies allocated to community colleges. Here I am mindful of the recent settlement Maryland's state decree for their HBCUS which should have been a billion dollars plus settlement. Let's be real there have progress in HBCU football which has in effect upset the setup. Even in the midst of the BLM movement and continual police killings which are in fact public lynchings one would think that a renewal or rebirth of our existential reality would impact choices that these athletes would make but with the strength of social media I overstand. Finally the challenge we face is to get better improve in all areas if we are to be relevant in an increasing hostile environment in these divides states of America?

www.denverbroncos.com/news/mile-high-morning-mac-mccain-franklin-civil-rights-movementMile High Morning: An introduction to Broncos CFA Mac McCain III and his family's connection to the Civil Rights Movement May 14, 2021 at 09:57 AMAs the Broncos' rookie class take the field on Friday, most of the limited media spectators will train their eyes on the cornerback group to get a glimpse of the team's first draft pick, Pat Surtain II, in action. Not far from him, though, should be a little-known college free agent out of North Carolina A&T who brings a lineage perhaps even more impressive than that of Surtain and his Pro Bowl father. Franklin McCain III goes by "Mac," but his full name shows the clear connection to a man who helped change the course of history in America as one of the "Greensboro Four." The original Franklin McCain, Mac's grandfather, and three of his friends, all of whom were NC A&T students, walked into a Woolworth store in Greensboro in 1960 and sat down at the whites-only lunch counter to protest the store's segregationist policies. The protest grew over the days that followed and helped force a widespread confrontation with segregationist policies as the Civil Rights Movement took shape.
