So, I guess it's just me. But I have a daughter that participates in sports (cheerleading).

Not true...I know there were cheerleaders that wanted to know why they were practicing with no season. There was a lot of apprehension.
Dude, you act as if I just went into a closet and now waiting to die. We all do what have from a priority perspective in order to live. But, to re-open without understanding fully what all the risks are is irresponsible especially if the activities we are speaking of are not a requirement to live. Point blank...these Alabamas, Texas' and Clemsons have no clue what could possibly lie ahead of the student athletes just because they are playing when they don't really have to. The thing that gets me is, no one knows what to do when an outbreak happens. But that's just my two cents.

He speaks The Truth. I still doubt that the MEAC or SWAC will play football this spring.

I just find it interesting that there are positive tests with head coaches and players but CDC guidelines are not followed.
It seemed clear originally that if an individual has a positive test, they should then ISOLATE (positive test) for 14 days to prevent the spread. Subsequently contract tracing should occur and those individuals with which you had close contact should then test and QUARANTINE (negative test)for 14 days to prevent potential spread.
Why is it then we are blowing by all those guidelines and people with positive tests on a Tuesday could possibly coach on NCAA sideline on Saturday. Players with positive tests are back in facilities within a week.
I'm all for playing sports however possible but still follow guidelines set forth. Schedules need to be super flexible in hopes of completing them and that should be understood. If you can't get with a flexible schedule than you may just have to stop playing.
I definitely would have assumed that UGA-Alabama would have been at minimum pushed with Saban's positive test. We keep hearing how others in close proximity to a positive person may have negative tests for several days before resulting in a positive, transmitting the virus the entire time (asymptomatic) which we know can still be contagious, which is why you quarantine.
Its really a fine line we are walking during this pandemic. We can go on with life but have to understand that things can change drastically in a instant with a positive test, and we must be willing to do the work and follow guidelines to get through this.
Im about to botch this but, this whole thing reminds me of the old fable ant and the grasshopper. The ant worked all spring and summer gathering food and supplies for the impending winter season. The grasshopper on the other hand was out having fun, playing games. Once winter arrived the Ant, who did the hard work and prepared was chilling with everything he needed, while the grasshopper was cold and hungry. I should have just googled and pasted the story, lol. But yall know it and get my point. If we would have done the hard work initially, we could have been enjoying and undefeated Aggie football right now getting ready for a Rattler beat down tomorrow. But instead we are in the midst of one of the lost bizarre sports calendars in the history of the world.
But I digress.

Had someone of Saban's stature gotten a positive test result on Friday morning, they would have tested him every four hours until they had three consecutive negative test results and deemed him fit to return to the sidelines for Saturday's game.

It's been painfully evident that there is a class of people in this country that will not follow rules, any rules. The ones making the rules are making them for "everyone else". The fact that those in that class can command whatever medical attention necessary for themselves and have absolutely zero regard for others is the example and becoming the norm. These million dollar coaches are only concerned about their incentive clauses. Unfortunately, in a risk reward calculation, risk wins. Even in a situation like Florida Memorial, leaders had complete disregard for the whole situation and brainwashed to think it was more important to re-start the football program in a pandemic year.
After the pandemic of 1918, rich people got richer in the roaring twenties until the market crashed in 1929. During that time they built generational wealth that has lasted for 100 years. Nick Saban makes $9.3 million a year. Enough said.

How Big Ten's COVID-19 Protocols Differ From Other ConferencesOctober 20, 2020 College AD Nightcap
>All five major conferences have a testing protocol, but not all tests are the same. In the Big Ten, daily testing is administered via rapid-response testing called point of contact testing. If someone tests positive via a POC test, they are required to take a PCR test, which is the commonly-accepted COVID-19 test. The POC tests take minutes to yield results and PCR tests yield results in under a day, according to LabCorp. >The Pac-12 also has rapid-response testing, but its protocol also requires participants in member programs using daily POC testing take at least one PCR test weekly. The ACC, Big 12 and SEC solely rely on PCR testing each week. >According to the Big Ten, if a player tests positive for COVID-19 via a POC test and the result is confirmed in a PCR test, the earliest they can return is 21 days from the positive result. >The SEC, ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12 also don’t specify whether the student-athlete protocols for returning to competition are the same as the players.

During the first wave Viet Nam recorded 0 zero deaths folk obeyed the government. These are Socialist countries mind you. But something is seriously wrong in America. Are we on the Eve of Destruction? What did that Rapper say yesteryear; it's getting its' getting kind of hectic...?

Pfizer says early analysis shows its Covid-19 vaccine is more than 90% effective
By Nadia Kounang, CNN Updated 11:08 AM ET, Mon November 9, 2020(CNN) Drugmaker Pfizer said Monday an early look at data from its coronavirus vaccine shows it is more than 90% effective -- a much better than expected efficacy if the trend continues. The so-called interim analysis looked at the first 94 confirmed cases of Covid-19 among the more than 43,000 volunteers who got either two doses of the vaccine or a placebo. It found that fewer than 10% of infections were in participants who had been given the vaccine. More than 90% of the cases were in people who had been given a placebo. Pfizer said that the vaccine, made with German partner BioNTech, had an efficacy rate higher than 90% at seven days after the second dose, which means protection is achieved 28 days after a person begins vaccination. The vaccine requires two doses. The US Food and Drug Administration has said it would expect at least 50% efficacy from any coronavirus vaccine. In an interview with CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Monday morning, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla called the Covid-19 vaccine "the greatest medical advance" in the world's last hundred years. "Emotions are very high. You can imagine how I felt when I heard the results yesterday at 2 p.m. I think that likely, based on impact, this will be the greatest medical advance in the last 100 years," Bourla said. "It is extraordinary but it's coming at a time that the world needs it the most," Bourla said, noting that the United States has recently seen more than 100,000 daily new Covid-19 cases. In a news release, the pharmaceutical giant said it plans to seek emergency use authorization from the FDA soon after volunteers have been monitored for two months after getting their second dose of vaccine, as requested by the FDA. Pfizer said it anticipated reaching that marker by the third week of November. In a text message to CNN, Dr. Anthony Fauci called Pfizer's results "Extraordinarily good news!" Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said he has not seen the vaccine data himself, but he spoke to Bourla Sunday night. More results to come There's still more to learn about the Pfizer vaccine. The Phase 3 trial of the Pfizer vaccine has enrolled 43,538 participants since July 27. As of Sunday, 38,955 of the volunteers have received a second dose of the vaccine. The company says 42% of international trial sites and 30% of US trial sites involve volunteers of racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds. The final goal of the trial is to reach 164 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection. The Pfizer vaccine uses a never-before-approved technology called messenger RNA, or mRNA, to produce an immune response in people who are vaccinated.
