I see no issue with pulling for P5 School that we don't play. It's no different than being a fan for Duke or Carolina in basketball, as long as we don't play them. It doesn't make you less of an Aggie. RELAX.

I don't know why some Aggies pull for ACC teams and other P5 schools. A few years back you could not even walk on their campuses unless you were an athlete.
Even then the black athletes were treaty as second class citizens. The athletes who attended the Big 4 schools in North Carolina had no social life. They had to travel to HBCU institutions to socialize.
On my job when I worked I saw people who graduated from HBCU schools wear P5 hats, T Shirts and other paraphernalia representing the ACC.
These same people did not even wear HBCU paraphernalia as though they were ashamed to. They walked and talked P5 schools glorifying them.
I wear my Aggie gear proudly and I am not ashamed to say A&T is my favorite college team. I know some who are.
Don't forget your roots because those ACC schools, P5 schools don't give a hoot about the black players. All they see is $$$ signs.
Those $$$ signs are why they are playing football and other sports this fall. All of the Afro American conferences are shut down. They care!

I have no love for ANYTHING not A&T. If there is a connection to the university somehow(kids or parents) then fine, root all you want, but lets break those cycles of rooting for teams that have nothing to do with us. Just rubs me the wrong way. No one would ever say, "Its OK to root for Hamptom when they not playing us." or "Its OK to root for Alcorn in the SWAC". Nor would someone that went to UNC say "Yeah, I'm going to root for Georgia". Aggies or nothing for me in college athletics.
Me and UNC/Duke loving Aggies always have it out over this. Makes not sense to me at all.

I don't see a problem of being a fan of P5 school's sports team. It doesn't make you any less black than the next man. It's simple you are just a fan of that particular sport of that school. Now, it becomes a problem if one acts as if they are a Tarheel and/or Bluedevil and never attended either school. At the very most, all they can be are fans because, they have no affiliation with the school. Some fans being more passionate than others. Similarly, this kind of reminds of all of the Washington Football Team's fans. If you like the Dallas Cowboys, they will ask, "Have you ever been to Texas?" What the hell that have to do with someone liking and being a fan of a team...? As if to say, you cannot be a fan of a team if you do not live in the city or state of the team you like. Crazy to me...
I'm an Aggie through and through for one, I attended the school, two I love everything about the school from academia to sports...to me there is a huge difference.

No pro team has ever really done anything for anyone accept be a pro team. You get a favorite player or team at a young age and nothing is there that really makes you change your mind. For example. The Panthers are not that old. People from NC were all over the place for football teams. If you like Dallas because you were a Dorsett fan growing up then so be it. Youdont have to be loyal to the Panthers. They aint did nothing for you. And yeah, i was talking about the people that say "we" and "us" with no affiliation at all when referring to P5 schools.

Makes not sense to me at all. yet, you can support joining a pwc conference? how 'bout hbcu's or nothing for you? if you can root for the big south conference, why can't other aggies root for unc or any other p5 school of their choice? ain't like they're placing unc ahead of a&t. i've rooted for unc athletics all my life, far longer than i've rooted for a&t. but that's because i grew up watching unc athletics on tv, a&t wasn't on tv back then. ain't nothing wrong with rooting for p5 schools as long as your loyalty lies with a&t. rooting for p5 schools is one thing, they're in a totally different class than a&t. but becoming a pwc conference member and supporting a pwc conference instead of an hbcu conference is totally different. pretty "ironic" that you can embrace becoming a pwc conference member which previously had "nothing to do with a&t", but yet you have a problem with aggie alums who also root for p5 schools...

You guys can do what you want but I only wear HBCU t-shirts sweatshirts. I like promoting the brand of schools I have something in common with. I always find it odd when someone is a huge Carolina / Duke fan never been on the campus could not tell you one major the school has. As if the school created athletics first them academics. Let me know when the Carolina / Duke / State folks start wearing A&T, NCCU, Shaw t-shirts since they should be pulling for us (NC HBCU's) when we not playing them right ? I will say its great to see all of G'boro wearing Aggie gear doing homecoming

This convo is getting way outta hand. All Aggieforlife said was that he is pulling for UNC in football THIS YEAR. There was no detail of wearing their paraphernalia, or being a die-hard. As Oleschool alluded, a lot of fans (SPORTS FANS) of P5 teams stems from being fans well before even thinking about attending A&T, nothing more nothing less. That does not mean we should stop being fans once we started attending our beloved A&T. Hell I remember every year on campus when Duke & Carolina played, everybody would be glued to the TVs in the dorms with arguments over who is better. Even out-of-state kids would chime in and say their flagship school was better. No one at that time was saying we weren't Aggies.
