Wasn't aware of the Coach K / Jesse Helms connection. Interesting.

OSA, why did you drop UNC from the top spot to be an athlete at A&T? According to your beliefs, that is a big drop to attend a HBCU and play a sport rather than perform at a P5.

Bornthrilla, that is a fact that Coach K was a big time Jesse Helms supporter. Research it.
Can't stand Duke or Coach k.

Most of these coaches are conservatives. That is their history or background. Dabbo and Tuberville, who is running for the Senate and has nothing but enthusiastic praise for the Fake president's programs. And then there is Saban as well as others who fit that mold. Black players and their parents adore these folks. No one can explain why black parents allow their black sons and daughters to play for ole Miss and these other institutions. Pressure had to be brought against Ole Miss to stop 99 % of their fans from continuously waiving the confederate flag during the game while the band played dixie. And the band played on.

There kids out there considering HBCU's that did not even have a HBCU on their list 6 months ago. At the very least I am promoting HBCU's in my attire to try and reinforce that HBCU's should be on your list. Everyone knows kids today make decisions about school based on culture what they see in attire etc.
Last year for the NCAA Finals in Austin, TX I was in the same hotel with UNC Track athletes. I had on an Aggie T-Shirt in the elevator with 2 of the kids both was like low key A&T track .off the chain.....probably should put more thought into my decision for college...... Bottom line I am rep my school as a blessed successful HBCU grad in a space / culture that promotes idolizes POWER 5's like Duke / UNC from an athletic an academic standpoint.

OSA, why did you drop UNC from the top spot to be an athlete at A&T? According to your beliefs, that is a big drop to attend a HBCU and play a sport rather than perform at a P5. my only interest in unc has always been "athletics", not the school in general. i didn't really learn a lot about a&t until my high school years. there was no cable tv or internet when i grew up, there was no hbcu sports on tv back then. we only had 4 tv stations to watch when i grew up (abc, nbc, cbs, pbs). unc was on tv, a&t wasn't. and by the way, i first grew to idolize unc when dean smith was coaching basketball. i can't speak for coach "k", but i know for a "fact" that dean smith fought very hard for civil rights until the day he died and was one of the first p5 coaches to put african americans on a p5 team. as a snotty nosed little kid, in the mid 60's i grew up idolizing unc guys like charlie scott and bill chamberlain as the first black players on unc's team and dean smith put them on his team despite push back from white racists. dean smith supported black players as well as "black coaches" such as georgetown's big john thompson who was one of dean smith's best friends and vice versa. unc is the only pwc i would've chose over a&t had unc offered me a scholarship, but that's only because i idolized unc athletics growing up. unc didn't offer me a scholarship, a&t did. but i still would've went to a&t without a track scholarship because i "literally" fell in luv with a&t during a summer orientation session at a&t that i went to before my freshman year. plus, 2 of my best friends were already at a&t which pretty much sealed the deal for me. as far as a&t becoming tops on my sports list instead of unc, that was pretty easy once i enrolled at a&t. i was still a unc sports fan at a&t, but a&t immediately became "family" when i first enrolled at a&t which meant a lot more to me than just sports alone. "family" always comes first, so it was a "no contest" choosing between a&t athletics and unc when i became an aggie...
