The Twitter post looks like he's committed to us? Is he and is he participating in the workouts?

Saw him in person . He could give A&T something that they don't have a post up guard/forward that can play the block and a good mid range shot when they play Jones Small Ball (BS) . Kid likes contract. So what's up with his recruitment ?

Dennis Rodman type. Hustle, nose around the basket, rebounds, putbacks, outlets, trailer. We need a hustle guy.

Coming to A&T as a preferred walk-on but will listen to serious offers if they should come his way before August. He can best be described right now as a "tweener" but projects primarily as a blue collar small forward/sixth man at the next level. The kid could prove to be an asset in Jones system of switching defenses/transition offense.

Another 3 & D kid that’ll hustle on both sides of the court and can play above the rim.

Hale the guards we have they have no mid range game at all and that includes Cam . They can shoot 3 but can hit a mid range J at all .

now, before i judge this kid i must say that the only video of him that i have seen is his junior year hudl highlights. so don't shoot the messenger, i just "call it the way that i see it". and based on his junior year hudl highlights "ONLY", several things stood out to me.
1 - he never made a basket beyond 10 feet from the basket, (mostly layups or put backs) 2 - no dunks, (i expected to see at least a couple) 3 - on film did not demonstrate any perimeter skills (doesn't mean he can't)
again, these observations are based "solely" on his junior year hudl highlights. based "solely" on his junior year hudl highlights, he appears to project as an undersized post player at the d1 level. he will need to work on his "perimeter game" to have impact at the d1 level...

Can't disagree with anything stated based on the criterial you established. I will say he doesn't seem to try and do more than he is capable of. Problem I see is that this is supposed to be a "highlight" of him at his best. There was just not anything that jumps off the page for me and only solidifies that a 6'4" post player is not a commodity. All that said, I have never seen him in live action so maybe there is more to him than the hudl highlights.

...so maybe there is more to him than the hudl highlights. Averaged a 20/10 double-double. All hustle. We had very few hustle points last year and got out hustled by inferior teams. Some of the kids that didn't hustle are no longer on the team.

I have to agree to disagree because the kid played with in the system at Grimsley , he should not be penalized for doing as his coach asked , and up until the North Carolina High School All Star game I would have agreed but after his performance in that game against four and five star players heading for P5 programs this kid deserves better than he's getting . The kid can ball . I personally hope that he gets a scholarship from someone because I'm not a believer in this preferred walk on BS . And definitely I'm not a fan of Jones and his coaching Style .

I'll trust the various scouting reports and coaches comments that I've read about him. They all agree on one thing. He's a vastly underrated blue collar player that is sound in every aspect and a real steal for the program that lands him. Barring something unforeseen, we have him joining us as walk-on next month so that's a good thing. Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 6’4 Daniel Cooper by Jeff Bendel | Mar 2, 2021 | Featured, News, Player Reports, Unsigned Senior Spotlight
At the beginning of each new year, Phenom Hoops works to assemble a series of articles centered around unsigned senior prospects. Last season, over one hundred players from North Carolina went on to play at the Division I, II, III or NAIA levels, and that number looks likely to continue increasing with the current senior class. Typically, we take a closer look at guys who are overlooked and underrated, and today’s edition will highlight Daniel Cooper of Grimsley High School.
