North Carolina A&T State University announced that it’s holding a special Athletics Conference Assessment Committee meeting on July 28. That meeting will be immediately followed by a special called meeting of the Board of Trustees. The agenda lists “Conference Recommendation” as a line item for the meeting. Many HBCU sports fans haven’t paid attention to Board of Trustees meetings and announcements before until this year. The departures from the MEAC of NCAT, Florida A&M University and Bethune-Cookman University were all preceded by innocuous mentions of a special meeting, and then came the fireworks. We do not know what will be specifically discussed on Tuesday. But clearly it has to do with athletics. A committee meeting followed by a gathering of the BOT usually signals something to be voted on. So let’s assume that there is a decision of some significance on the table for Tuesday. A DEVASTATED ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Let’s also engage in a thought exercise that this decision centers around whether or not to play the 2020 football season as an independent. There’s no question that NCAT was devastated when the MEAC announced that it was suspending fall sports for the 2020 season due to concerns over COVID-19. In fact, NCAT Director of Athletics Earl Hilton had not yet recovered from the cancellation of the basketball season. NCAT held a press conference even before the MEAC held its own and Hilton was visibly shaken by the news. He cried. If this happens it will shut down Aggie monster predition and resuscitate VA Finest. it makes sense we going to play in the big South next year anyway.Of course if they have a celebration bowl in the spring we would not be eligible to play
Dennis Thomas will be highly upset with us and maybe try to sue A&T

The MEAC ain't suing nobody. Dennis Thomas lost all creditability and influence a long time ago when the three best athletic programs in this conference all decided to leave at the same time for their long term financial security with bigger marketing opportunities down the road.
It will be all he can do just to keep the remaining football playing members together over the next 2-3 of years without any more defections in the midst of a ongoing pandemic and a growing recession that is only going to get worse before it gets better.

The chance to play a 2020 season is intriguing and could offer an opportunity to generate both revenue and media exposure. After watching the return of MLB,WNBA and the NFL it appears that sports can be played relatively safely. As outlined in the HBCUgameday article there is a path for A&T to play an independent schedule by sliding into Hampton's conf. schedule and keeping both Liberty and NDSU.While there are no guarantees in life and if proper precautions are taken maybe a season can be had.

I did not say he would win but he would still try to hang A&T if this move would ever happen. He clearly showed how anger when he said A&T got to where they was while being a full member of MEAC. In other words don't forget who made you great. I don't agree with that statement but he clearly show how angry he was.

Not so the movement was backed by the student population and student organizations on campus . I know because my sisters were apart of the student movement at A&T at that time and I would listen to them but that's another story for another time . Just don't put the 4 in with this BS . Because the virus does not give a Damn about a persons color or there rights .

Thomas doesn't give a damn about A&T and he is definitely not angry because to be truthful A&T , Hampton, BCU and FAMU did the MEAC a big big favor by exiting the conference and making it more centralized. D. Thomas is not going to make a scene by making A&T relevant to MEAC fans he is satisfied with letting A&T go slowly into the night with no fan fair at all .

That's not true Dennis has stated on many occasion he wanted to grow MEAC to at 12 schools so he can then split the conf. to reduce the traveling footprint. There is no way want to lose your three top schools it gives the perception your conf. is falling apart and if they lose one more school they will be subject to lose there D1 status(2 years to add another).
