Just an idea, but I'd love to see an A&T Historical forum added...one for the general university and another for Aggie Athletics.
Case in point: About 2 years ago I stumbled upon a 1939 A&T basketball team photo. (MAXELL actually posted it in a thread within the past week or so.) It listed to the players and the head coach, INMAN BREAUX. I had never heard of him, but I wanted to know more about who he was and how his career developed.
After a lot of digging, it turns out that Inman Breaux was the head football coach, head basketball coach, athletics director and advisor to the Varsity Club (former and/or present-time Aggie lettermen). He was a graduate of Virginia Union, was an All-CIAA quarterback, baseball player and track athlete. He was inducted into the VUU Sports Hall of Fame as a student. He came to A&T in 1932 and left in 1939, moving to Oklahoma City. After teaching at an OKC high school, he became a athletic administrator and university registrar at Langston University. He died in a tragic tractor accident around Thanksgiving of 1968.
I'd love to have a forum where we can post information and photos pertaining the overall history of A&T. I think that it will create a deeper appreciation of those pioneers who preceded us and the great work that they did.Creating what is now North Carolina A&T State University:
