Big South player of the year Carlik Jones puts his name into the transfer portalBy Mike Niziolek mike.niziolek@roanoke.com 981-3126 Mar 25, 2020 Updated 23 hrs ago
RADFORD — The reigning Big South player of the year has hit the transfer portal.
Radford guard Carlik Jones has entered his name into the transfer portal, according to the school’s athletic director, Robert Lineburg.
That will give him the opportunity to play his final year of eligibility elsewhere as a graduate transfer, if he so chooses...

these kind of moves for low major stand outs are not surprising. we've previously loss 3 or 4 players from a&t for the same reason (femi, pack, and hunt come to mind). these guys have a bit of success in a low major conference and figure they've got one last chance to prove themselves in a high profile conference with the hope of playing at the next level.
so as long as the ncaa rules don't change, i suspect this trend will continue indefinitely at low major schools...

He's still got one more chance before we break camp. You never know...LOL!!!!! If there was only place that Carlik Jones should come to in the MEAC, it's A&T. There's not a PG in the country that would make him look better than Kam Langley. The program is that our guard rotation next year looks like this: Kam Langley - Sr Tyler Maye - Sr Kwe Parker - Sr Blake Harris - R-JrHeat-Check Fred - Soph I think Blake Harris is similar to the impact that a Carlik Jones would provide. And Jones is getting recruited by Louisville & Ohio St. This is just a reminder that our backcourt is going to be DYNO-MITE in 2020-21.

This is just a reminder that our backcourt is going to be DYNO-MITE in 2020-21. to me, it ain't our backcourt that i'm concerned about for next season. instead, i'm concerned about how we're gonna replace jackson and haygood next season. i agree we should have plenty of "fire power" in our backcourt next season and i wouldn't leave ty lyons out of that mix either. you were "dead right" about ty lyons last season, i was very pleasantly surprised with his game this season. but we need a couple more ty lyons type surprises at the 4 and 5 for next season. hopefully harry will come thru big time next season cuz we're surely gonna need him to step up. fortunately he got some excellent experience this season that should pay off next season...

Lyons has to check his emotions and stop fouling. Didn't the coach advise folks that he has a 3 star 6'9" player on the way,as well as, some other solid players. We need to see him play before we give him a crown.

No question on Ty Lyons. I didn't put him with the guards since he's a pure small forward 3 who can play at the 4 in mid-major world. But Ty is in a great spot... a chance to be a star player in a historically great mid-major/HBCU program with 2 upperclassman years ahead of him. He has the chance to be a star with the right work this summer. I expect Harry to take a significant jump as well. The only challenge with Harry will be how we are allowed to handle the summer sessions. Ideally, we're bringing everyone back for (at least) Summer II. So if we're giving Harry a work plan for Summer I with Pommie putting him through it across the pond and we get Harry back here for Summer II... I think that Harry become a major player for us in 2020-21 and a star player for 2021-23. There are at least 3 (likely 4) scholarships available. The frontcourt will be the focus, I'm sure.
