MEAC Announces Weekly Football Honors Football // 9/2/2019 NORFOLK, Va. - Sept. 2, 2019 – Bethune-Cookman quarterback Akevious Williams was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today. North Carolina A&T State’s Jermaine McDaniel was selected as Defensive Player of the Week and South Carolina State freshman B.J. Davis was selected as Rookie of the Week. Earning Offensive Linemen of the Week honors was South Carolina State’s Alex Taylor and picking up Specialist of the Week honors was North Carolina A&T State’s Noel Ruiz. McDaniel (DE, 6-3, 235, r-So., Dillon, S.C.) disrupted Elon’s offense all night, assisting in the Aggies holding the Phoenix to just 19 yards rushing for the game. His three sacks are the most by an Aggie in a single game in over two seasons. He finished with eight total tackles (four solo), three tackles for a loss of 27 yards, as North Carolina A&T State held on last to defeat No. 21 Elon 24-21. Ruiz (PK, 5-11, 187, Jr., Wilson, N.C.) kicked a school-record 52-yard field goal as time expired in the game to give the Aggies a 24-21 win over No. 21 Elon. What an amazing pick up McDaniel is!! If he keeps this up he's headed for all-conference honors and much more. And he's only a sophomore!! Glad he's an Aggie!

i luv bam, don't get me wrong. but i think mcdaniel will make it easy for us not to miss dj. this dude is a straight up beast!
i saw his app state video before he ever took a snap for us and i knew right away that he'd have major impact for us. this dude is not a fluke, trust me...

I still halfway expect us to miss extra points. When you have watched as much black college football as I have you just don't expect to have a competent, confident kicking game. I believe we are well on our way with Ruiz and our Punter.
