We all realistically know that we're no where near close yet to immediate future FBS transition, but why shoot down the dream?
Our attendance isn't anywhere near where it needs to be, but if you think we're going to get there playing Deleware State and all these other modern day conference non rivals with even worse notoriety then I see why you feel we're screwed lol.
Yes we have a bowl game with high attendance thanks to the SWAC rep. Beating their lower non ranked conference champion in a Bowl game is doing wonders for us in the FCS football landscape.................
If it takes something as small as a rumor of growth aspirations to get our crowd energized and increase interest then I dont see why everyone views it so negatively.
We all want the same goal which is to be a football powerhouse outside of just the MEAC. I'd love to see an organized list of the pros vs cons joining the FBS division.
We have zero fbs conference invites. We don't have the money, attendance, nor facilities yet. Clearly there's some work to be done. However without the goal in place we'll never get there.
It was stated that we only have 4 in the nfl vs 14 from App. That's because we can't attract those type of Athletes in large numbers under our current set up. The statements here have been contradictory.
"We should remain the school that gives 63 people a chance to put one 1 in the NFL" per year, yet complain we only put 4 in the NFL lol. That's how our system is set up and that's how people are saying we should remain lol.
Loving the conversation regardless. No one is wrong when expressing opinions. It does feel weird seeing so many scared anti growth Aggies at this point of success. We're where we are now because of all the Aggie alum paving the way.

The timing i think has nothing to do with it. The statement was made at an A&T staff meeting/event. "An employee" at said meeting told what they saw to HBCU Gameday....and poof here we are. It blew up way more than it was supposed to.

There are far to many variables besides the money . Did he tell you that FBS teams must meet a minimum game attendance requilrements (average 15,000 people in actual or paid attendance per home game), while FCS teams do not need to meet minimum attendance requirements . $ 35 Million maybe the easiest of the goals to meet for the FBS level .

“It’s an exercise for all of us. Let’s force ourselves outside the box, to think bigger than we normally think. Not just in athletics, but across every aspect of the university. … Let’s push ourselves to be better.” -Earl Hilton

In my humble opinion he basically admitted the he and Chancellor Martin want to move to FBS and that the rest of Aggie Nation needs to start believing that we can do better than FCS.
We need to trust our leaders...they have not failed us yet.

I can't believe HBCU Gameday finessed all of this discussion from just one meaningless bullet point on a powerpoint slide.

That was the chancellor's annual faculty/staff State 0f the Campus address. Every chancellor has magnanimous visions for their university, and some visions become a reality almost immediately, while others take years to come to fruition. Some never do. Chancellor Martin has been a transformative leader throughout his career with the institutions he served. Under his leadership, Winston-Salem State doubled its enrollment, increased its SAT scores and changed the physical growth and appearance of the campus. He did that while only serving for about five years. He left the UNC general admin as the second in command to take on the job at A&T. He is entitled to dream, but the FBS vision may be an impossible dream. As it stands, we at A&T don't have anywhere close to the funds that are required to play at another level. We are already in the red for athletics in 2018-19. The chancellor and an athletic fundraiser guru advised us a few years ago how much alumni at major schools donate to their athletic program to support FBS football. We are miles away from the gate to FBS football. If we don't start doing a better job of funding the athletic program, we will soon return to mediocrity. Stop dreaming about what could be and try to figure out ways to achieve that dream. That will require raising millions of dollars yearly.
Band Alums, stop whining and carrying out comparative analysis of every band that you think is better than A&T. I haven't seem them, and I've seen a lot of bands. At Homecoming get together with former band members and officially organize to raise money for 10 to 15 scholarships per year. Incidentally, there is no way that a state university located in one of the TEN poorest states in the nation can be handing out scholarships for a lot of their members. This is true for HBCUs everywhere.
