Does NC have a compact agreement with SC as far as tuition is concerned . I have a niece who just graduated who lives in SC,and has been accepted to NCAT . Her parents want to know if NC and SC have an agreement for students in SC to pay in-state tuition in NC .Appreciate any help on this matter.

Unless things have changed they did not while I was enrolled at T and thus far I hadn’t heard anything different . SC students were counted as any other out of state student. If A&T did that you would see a mass exodus of students more so than now flocking across the border to attend.

i JUST discovered that this type of thing actually exist. Apparently Georgia has one with South Carolina. Students from both states do not have to pay out of state fees to attend public colleges. Color me impressed.

After doing a little research online ,I found out there is something called the Academic Common Market and the Regional Contract Program between several southern states . Apparently North Carolina dropped out years ago .Some of the states in now are South Carolina ,Alabama ,Arkansas ,Florida ,Georgia ,Kentucky and Louisiana . She has been accepted at NCAT,Howard ,and Hampton ,her dad said no for SCSU and hell no for Howard ,I trying really hard to get her up here ,we shall see .

Why not live with you, get a part time job and a driver's license, and declare herself as a resident of the state.

She would have to have her own address ,with bills such as cable and utilities in her name ,and a NC drivers license,I did this when I came here. This option would take a year before in-state status is granted .
