As long as we keep getting events during track season, we may not have time to install the new track.

we were told some time ago that the new track would be installed after the 2018 football season was over. i assume that that didn't happen since folk are asking about it. but i saw that it is still budgeted for in the bot preeminence 2035 slides. if i remember correctly, its gonna cost us $1.5 million to install the new track.
once the new track is installed i expect that our track meet business will pickup significantly...

. How long does it take to install a track? It really doesn't take all that long. Weeks maybe, not months. Its just replacing a mondo track with another mondo track. They could do it between the AAU nationals and the first home game, which would actually make the most sense.

Not sure we can pick it up anymore than it already is. We host the USATF track nationals EVERY time it returns to the east coast pretty much. We host the the high school state finals every year for every level. We host the USATF state games and/or the regionals almost every year. We've hosted the New balance national recently. Now the AAU nationals. The upgrade is more about maintaining at this point because we've recognized how valuable having a nice track facility actually is. We don't even have open dates anymore or events to chase. We could go after the "Holy Grail" I guess, but beating out Oregon for that.........?

Some track meets happen on the same days. Cant host both. You have to choose what you go after. We might have room for 1 or 2 more big meets, but thats about it.

In fact, Hayward is in the middle of a complete rebuild to a new 30K seat facility as they are slated to host the IAAF (yeah that IAAF) world championships in 2021 www.google.com/amp/s/amp.si.com/more-sports/2018/04/17/hayward-field-oregon-new-stadium-design-rendering-photosAttachments:
