The MEAC’s defensive player of the year has hired a sports agent and will forgo his final season of eligibility.

“I signed with an agent, so it’s a done deal. There’s no going back,” Johnson said in a telephone interview. “… It’s been hard. It took me forever to make the decision. I’ve talked with my family a lot about it. I’ve prayed about it. And I’m just going with my heart.”

Johnson said he signed with agent Robert Walker, who founded Unlimited Success Sports Management in 1988. The sports management and marketing firm is based in Charlotte.

“Over the break, I built up a relationship with my agent,” Johnson said. “I went with him, and he has everything laid out for me. I believe in him, and he believes in me.”

Robert Walker is the same agent Malik Wilson recently signed with.

You do know that only 1/3 of the players that attend the NFL combine got drafted , where as 38 players that did not attend the combined got drafted . So the combined is not so much of a big deal .

Darryl Johnson, DE, North Carolina A&T: Having produced Bears running back Tarik Cohen and Raiders offensive tackle Brandon Parker in the last two years, North Carolina A&T is in good shape to field yet another draft pick in Johnson. At 6-5 and 232 pounds, he dips around offensive tackles with relative ease and recorded 10 1/2 sacks in 2018. With NFL teams willing to pay a premium for pass-rushing skills, Johnson should have several suitors who will take a long view on his production.
