....sometimes, you gotta tip your cap to the other black schools in the nation. We just don't get it in like that. The SWAC (deep Down South) just do things differently that what we do. They have a different flow than what we do....many may consider it for the better. Band/cheering-wise......they got us. On the football field.....we got them. Just give credit to our brothas/sistas down in the Deep South and the deeper (perhaps more personal/spiritual) ties they may have to their schools.

We have the best band in the land. Put the band in the end zone so everyone can hear them. And the band now has a first down song we need a 3rd down stop song. I like this idea.

That game from Alcorn was the SWAC Champ game and the first one ever hosted on a campus. I wonder how their atmosphere is for regular season games?

Now if we had a band like Norfolk state sitting across from us every home game that would also do wonders..But of course we have no control over that. whether people want to admit it or not..A good number of fans only come to see the band. The swac has a more interesting and aggressive band culture which makes the game day atmosphere better.

We definitely need to put the cameras on the visitors side. A couple of good camera stands filming the home crowd as opposed to the empty sections of the stadium will theoretically have people feeling like they should be there and they're missing out. Moving the cameras, is the best idea that I have read so far. "Wine and cheese" fans? Don't know about that. I don't recall seeing people who have paid money for the game drinking wine and eating cheese in the stands. Maybe at a tailgate. Don't most of you guys fit into that category? I agree with the idea of a block of cheaper tickets for the visitors side, and hope that people on the home side don't move to the visitor's side to take advantage of a deal like that. Why not organize a group from this sight to meet with the chancellor, BOT and athletics to discuss your ideas and concern?

I always say we are the wine and cheese crowd of the MEAC. There is a reason why both of our losses are at home. It's not really a home-field advantage our game atmosphere is abysmal. Our cheers are too complicated and we don't have any traditional cheers other than Aggie Pride that the crowd can get involved in. So we do the wave circa 1976.. We have the best band in the land. Put the band in the end zone so everyone can hear them. And the band now has a first down song we need a 3rd down stop song. I say put a little money to the "Aggie Live Wires" so they can have more people in it. An organized 100-150 student section will do wonders. They can get an incentive to be able to go to away games that the band attends to beef up participation.. this will also be great for branding. And of course get rid of the game zone. A&T football has become an elite club with a big huge wall around it. And it shows. The crowd we have now does not have the capacity to be lit. We've built this wine and cheese attitude but there are things we've done to perpetuate it. And there are things we can do turn it around. 1. Cheerleaders can go back to cheers that energize the crowd. For many of us these are the cheers that are talking "shat" about good we feel about what our team is doing. These are cheers that rhyme or have a hook that everyone can remember. Something as simple as "The Aggies run this mother sucker. Hey! Hey!". 2. I hate that the cheerleaders have virtually abandoned "stomp and shake" cheers. Those are the cheers that are truly rooted in our culture and designed to get the crowd going with rhythm and sassiness. 3. If Cold Steel just broke out into a funk-filled drum beat specifically designed to get the crowd going. Not a lot of complicated riffs, just pure stripped down funk. 4. This is section number one, number one, number one .... 5. The student section now is too far away from the field of play (in the horseshoe) to really engage in what is happening there. When the student section is behind the bench, student are more connected, encouraging players, seeing faces, calling out names, hearing the hits up close, feeling the intensity of the game. 6. Keep the game zone. Create a lower price tier as I suggested in an earlier post.

Want to ratchet up the atmosphere in Aggie Stadium, serve mix drinks at the concession stands. But rather than focusing on cheerleaders and the band, let's focus on getting more butts in the stands.
We've got a good product...attractive stadium, great team, great band and great cheerleaders. What we need is a department staffed with experienced promoters and marketing professionals.
I've actually seen some really innovate ideas on this site unfortunately those ideas will never be tried at A&T. We keep doing the same thing every season and expecting different results. It isn't working.

A&T’s reversed fan section has always been dry. That’s why I always sit on the visitors side so I can talk junk.
Attendance is concerning. Maybe a private company can have alumni party buses to the games from central pick up locations in CLT, down east, and the triangle. Likka, light snacks, lunch, more likka & folks would not have to drive.
Also, A&T gets up for certain schools.

A&T has a perception vs reality problem. Removing homecoming from the equation. The stadium looks like it's making more money than it is because of student attendance. If you remove the students that dont have to pay to get in, our non-student attendance(where the extra money ACTUALLY comes from) is kind of low.

Our game atmosphere is indeed boring.....due a number of factors that are fixable with time & effort.

Maybe the "Wine and cheese" perception is what is keeping A&T from focusing on getting more butts in the stands. Hale we should have crazy fans like a lot of the PWC have .

So what do you guys think is the problem...wine & cheese fans or low attendance? I think if we did a better job promoting our games to non-Aggies in the greater Greensboro market we would solve both problems. Right now I believe that 80 to 90% of our fans that regularly attend home games are A&T Alumni and their immediate family and friends. That's great as a core base but if we want to get our revenue up we will need a lot more non-Aggies to show up. Unfortunetly we are doing anything to attact those fans to our stadium. Sure we have a winning team and world-class band but you can tell that if you don't come to the stadium.
Here's an idea...have the Aggie dog randomly show up at various locations on Friday at lunchtime and give away 500 free general admission tickets. (Invite the local TV station to follow the Aggie Dog to get TV coverage) Places like the Greensboro City Hall, Gilbarco, United Health, Volvo Truck Group, Walmart, Community Colleges and every bar and pub in Greensboro. Set aside a special section next to the A&T Band and recognize them during the game as our "Special Community Guest." Do this at every game except Homecoming. I guarantee you this one simple act will create buzz in the community and get some extra butts in the seats.

Here's the problem though with all these ideas: there in zero incentive for anybody currently employed by the university to do anything different.
Their paycheck remains the same whether we have 25,000 people in the stadium or 2,500.
We can come up with every great idea under the sun, but until somebody in a position of authority is motivated to do some extra work and solve our attendance problems, then this is just a fruitless exercise.
Nobody at A&T works on commission and nobody has their end-of-year performance review based on the BB&T Stadium attendance figures.
