If you help post a 12-0 record and then beat JSU and/ or ECU the next season, you will have way better job opportunities waiting for you than a startup D2 school.
I think Hester jumped too soon. He should have played this thing out one more season.

Sounds fishy...bad time to leave any football program. But, that's life, get your $$ when you are hot!

Knowing Coach Washington, I strongly suspect that our RB coach Shawn Gibbs and QB coach Chris Barnett will share offensive coordinator duties this fall, and he'll go outside and hire a position coach to take over the wide outs and TEs. We are not going to substantially change anything in our offensive philosophy but there will be some noticeable differences in the play calls. I expect to see Barnett in the box given his experience at Guilford as the OC.

i sure hope there had been no "bad blood" between hester and washington. i mean, to accept a head gig of a brand new "startup" d2 program is not exactly a step up for hester...

One offensive chapter closes and another opens - I like that.

I am happy for Coach Hester really enjoyed how he ran our offense.I have had contact with him always up beat and would always return a call or Email, always thought he would be the first Coach to leave. The life of a Coach is to be fired or leave to another program best wishes and thanks for everything. We as a program will be just fine.

That's the politically correct thing to say. We aren't Alabama, we can't lose the OC and not expect that to have an overall affect on the offense. I will say let the guys you have get a shot and if they don't cut it then, do a search. I mean, that's about all we can do. I don't have a problem with folk moving on to greener pastures but, don't leave us high and dry with not many options. If we hire a new OC now, then our season is a gamble, we can roll the dice and see what happens OR we roll with Barnett and Gibbs. I don't have a problem with the latter but, I wish they could've had a Spring under their belts as the Co-coodinators. But, such as life!

He should have played this thing out one more season. I agree another great year and he would have landed as the head coach at a small FCS school had he chose to leave. If memory serves me correctly he was already a head coach at a D2 before joining Broadway’s staff I did not expect him to stay past this season as I assume he probably was a candidate for our head job

The question is this has the players change our left. I THINK RAYNARD, Cartwright, Johnson,McCain and Bell are still playing. This Staff and players win games not one Coach leaving changes that.Aggies Relax

I feel the same especially if we stay in house because I think Broadway been grooming Coach Gibb for this from day one Like Coach Washington Plus the game plan for the first game is already in place the only problem is experience under pressure We play Aggie Football we win we don't we lose bottom line AGGIE PRIDE

I’m ever the eternal optimist here and my mood changed going into the season.
We just have to see how he chips fall here. Thank goodness we still got coach Barnette and Coach Gibbs still.
Our kids will run through a wall for them.

I THINK RAYNARD, Cartwright, Johnson,McCain and Bell are still playing. This Staff and players win games not one Coach leaving changes that.Aggies Relax This is not just ONE coach, it is our Offensive Coordinator. The thing that moved the program from good to great was the ability to put together an offensive attack that complemented a great defense. The ability to move the ball in multiple ways, make the right calls and adjust to what defenses were doing took time even for Hester. And Hester had been a head coach for 11 years. And remember Broadway didn't get the right guy the first time. I worry. I certainly don't like the idea of Barnett and Gibbs "sharing" the role. That job needs a single leader with the confidence to make the right decisions on the big stage. We need to get an experienced guy. With Washington's inexperience as a head coach we already approach the season with caution. We can't add to it. Washington has had trouble making a decision regarding a Defensive Coordinator and that's his specialty. This will be his second opportunity to make a decision (that he didn't make). He has to make a good decision here. If this were January, it would be different. Players report in two weeks for summer school. Let's see what happens.
