So A&T agreed to pay the fees to (EPA & DOJ,OP,OE one of them ) to develop the property in the Brownfield agreement, knowing that it had Potentially Hazardous Environmental markers and on the Inactive Site List . ? So if the fees have been paid (have they) ? Let's say they have . Why hasn't the developmental part began? This was from 2016 ,what has been done to address the Potentially Hazardous Environmental issues . It's been 7 years and they are still playing games at War Memorial Stadium, a Potentially Hazardous Environmental Site LHM ππ€£ . If this is not Gaslighting I don't know what is . Why hasn't this came out earlier than now . Chancellor Martin retires and s*** falls out of the sky ππ€£π I mean this document has always been available. I'm sure Craig has talked to our AD about this multiple times since 2016. So, I don't think this might be s*** falling out of the sky.Β You can go back to the beginnings of this thread and you would see numerous posts asking what is the hold up with the stadium. If Craig had a conversations or any interaction with the AD about this subject, I would think that he would have stated so . But it's what it is transparency is a MOFO around this joint 4sure π

Looks like a brownfield application was filled with the state of North Carolina by A&T in June 2016 by project manager Chuck Dixon.
The pdf is online. I don't know what the results of the application were.

IMO, from what I've seen in the past 26 pages we shouldn't be playing there.
UNCG gets to play home basketball games at the Coliseum. It seems like a no-brainer that we could work something out with whatever the minor league team is that is in the stadium downtown to play our home baseball games there.
Put up a big ole plastic fence around War Memorial and work at whatever pace we went to with no issues.

I agree, I don't see the benefits of playing there. Central played at the Durham minor league's stadium, until they discontinued their program.

I started this thread in 2018. We are now almost near the end of 2023. That is 6 years.
The one constant during this period has been the endless excuses from administration apologists for why nothing can be done to renovate War Memorial.

The one constant during this period has been the endless excuses from administration apologists for why nothing can be done to renovate War Memorial. I mean... the school had to go through that long process to purchase the site from the city. On top of it, it's facility registered as a historical building and it's a brownfield site. None of that constitutes to a process that could've been finished pre-covid. And that doesn't mean it's not disappointing. The thing's falling apart and that whole facility could end up slowing down turfing the practice fields and moving the softball field. But also, I have yet to see you publicly question anyone about this during the numerous town halls held in this timeframe. Not posting to Twitter. Not, posting sarcastic items here. Actually using those skills we learned in Crosby to pursue a story and help inform all alumni about this process. Yet, alas, this is going just like that grass thread, which is another sad excursion on all sides.

Hilton has already discussed this with the AAF. Hilton spoke about War Memorial at AAF meeting; we have had 2 architects complete plans the issue has been getting it past some historical society in that section / part of Greensboro I just posted the recent Powerpoint slide from the BOT meeting where they said the process was supposed to start last month. Barlow was on the news last year talking about the how all the hurdles have been cleared and the process was about to start then. Countryboy told us yesterday that everything is fine ... except for the lead paint and asbestos. I am well aware of all the official talking points. And I have cross referenced those talking points with folks outside the university who basically said the university is full of BS. There is really nothing left to investigate. If the university wants to continue to drag their feet and allow a crumbling building to remain as the sad symbol of administrative incompetence, that ultimately is their prerogative. My question is why are alums like you so content on watching that incompetence and making excuses for it?

You dont see the benefits of playing in a stadium that we own and is located just a few feet away from campus? You would prefer paying rent for a downtown loft instead of just making the needed repairs to the house we already own the deed to?

If I'm a recruit, this looks like a great place to call home.

But it's not that much of a hassle. All we have to do is remove the lead paint and asbestos and convince the Historical Committee to stop being mean to us.
