The Historical Preservation Commission is the least of our worries. This property has brownfields ( contaminated property, lead paint and asbestos ) and a stream that runs through the property. Both require plan review and approval from the NC Department of Enviromental Quality before any land disturbing activities take place. The City of Greensboro Engineering Department must review and approve any street improvements, stop lights, sidewalks etc. State contracts want allow you to spend one penny on property until you receive clear title. I could go on and on, but to criticize the AD and the Athletic Dept as incompetent shows a lack of knowledge regarding project management or State contracts. I suggest that anyone who is concerned with this project to call or better yet, visit the Assistant Director of Facilities and you will be amazed at his willingness to answer all of the questions posted on this board. He’s an Aggie and former City manager who retire and moved to Greensboro to contribute and be a part of the Aggie family. I believe a retired City Manager is more than capable of managing a construction project. All of this negative commentary is so unnecessary. That’s my 2 cents!

I'm glad we just found all this out today. Now maybe we can address some of these issues and the begin the renovation process within the next 10-15 years. Thank you for the update!

Give me a number/email and I will invite him on the show tomorrow night. Last month we were blaming all these delays on the Historic Committee. I talked to them on the phone and found out they were not the issue. Now its the Department of Environmental Quality and the City Engineering Department. I swear, you guys come up with a new agency every time your previous excuse is debunked. BTW: The whole debate should be moot because your own BOT powerpoint slide claims that everything is ready and the renovation process was supposed the begin last month. At the very least, yall should be able to hold a conference call and get everyone on the same page before you decide what excuse to roll out next time.

I agree with thrilla. Next it will be a nest of baby geese in the stadium that they dont want to touch or the mom will abandon them. "This will be pushing renovations back 6 months until the babies have matured and can take care of themselves".

BTW: According to countryboy, we got lead paint and asbestos at this facility and continue to use it to host baseball games and invite the general public to attend.
So you mean to tell me that all this time, I've been bringing my wife and kids into a building that is known to have asbestos?
Is that seriously the argument you are trying to make now in order to defend administrative incompetence?
Hell, forget about the stadium renovations - where do I sign up for the class action lawsuit?
Good grief.

Did you ever realize that the timeline also included approvals and other items? 2. You've never reached out to this person in the past?

3. Do you have the contact info for a good attorney who can sue for possible asbestos exposure?

Show me the documentation that states the above issues..i.e That the property is contaminated and that stream that runs by the stadium has been there for decades along with the stadium and I would think that it has been evaluated by the city manager. I'm with Thrilla on this . I grew up playing football and baseball in that area/field between the stadium and the tennis courts as a kid living on Banks Street. If you have proof and documentation produce it or give us a reference destination site so that we can put this to rest .

Countryboy really thought he did something. It's not the administration's incompetence ... it's the lead paint and asbestos.

If anything, those with platforms should use them to inform the masses of what's actually occurring with War Memorial and also ask questions about why it's taking so long for the reno to begin with shovels in the ground.
