Aggie Men Seek Back-to-Back MEAC Indoor Titles Courtesy: NC A&T Sports Information Release: 02/14/2018LANDOVER, Md. (February 14, 2018) – Last season the 2017 North Carolina A&T men’s indoor track and field team dominated the field and won their first outright Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship since 1996. N.C. A&T tallied 146.5 points at the indoor conference championships to outpace second-place Hampton by 50.5 points. As they arrive in Maryland to compete for their second straight MEAC title at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex, they will bring with them 27 top-10 MEAC performances including five conference leaders. “Having the opportunity to repeat as back to back champions is great in my eyes,” said senior sprinter Dajuan Harding, last season’s 400-meter champion at the MEAC indoor championships. “Coach Ross built this team up from when he first arrived to now. He has put the correct pieces together for us to succeed. All season long we have talked about embracing the target on our back as a team and we have prepared for this spotlight. We understand what we have to do as a team and as individuals to bring back another championship. Everything we have done in practice has prepared us for this weekend and we are not leaving without one.” www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=211700469&_ga=2.195890980.964308161.1518621122-294242472.1466658443

Ladies Look To Do Their Part To Make History Courtesy: NC A&T Sports Information Release: 02/14/2018LANDOVER, Md. (February 14, 2018) – The North Carolina A&T women’s indoor track and field team has “repeat” on their minds heading into the 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Prince George’s County Sports & Learning Complex, Feb. 15-17. The 2017 ladies achieved the first ever MEAC indoor title in school history, winning seven events and sending 15 to the podium for medals. “Our goal is to win another championship and that would be a great feeling because it’s my last time competing indoors, so that would be a great senior moment,” said N.C. A&T senior sprinter India Brown. “As a captain I have a connection with all my teammates and we all have the same vision, to be a part of history and do something that has never been done before. All season we worked hard so that no one can tell us that we don’t deserve this. I believe in my team and we’re ready for war.” www.ncataggies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=24500&ATCLID=211700502&_ga=2.236326409.964308161.1518621122-294242472.1466658443

The ladies are in 2nd place, 10 pts behind BCU: Women's ITF ScoresheetThe men are in 4th place, 30 pts behind Hampton: Men's ITF ScoresheetThe women are pretty much a lock to repeat because of the sprint dominance on Saturday. The men have some key injuries, though... so it might be close tomorrow. The men have a chance to pick up some points in the indoor weight throw with 2 guys in the final tonight, so that will help.

Big win by A&T's Derrick Wheeler tonight in the weight throw.
That helped close the gap on Hampton to 15 pts heading into tomorrow... within striking distance for the sprint crew.

Along with the points, this key win demonstrates the evolution towards a complete t&f program.
Very good day 2 for women and men!
