Exactly. It's hilarious to push a narrative that the largest HBCU in the country has a messaging problem Have to disagree here. One of the simplest traditions you can uphold is your name. I went to grad school at OSU (Ohio State). One thing you're never gonna catch is a new generation of student referring to them as "Oh Sue." Lol. It's either O-S-U or Ohio State (or THE Ohio State University if you're feeling fancy). Protect your name at all costs. Not sure why that's so hard to understand. "In-Cat" sounds dumb. As it's been stated , you can't use the & sign on social media during to coding. That's why u see TXAM instead of TXA&M. When u Google ncat , we come up. It could be worse. We could be UNC A&T

Sustainability and adaptability will be key moving forward. Those in charge must be creative enough to come up with innovative fundraising measures and savvy enough to stay in tune with new science/technology and how best to implement them.

We could be UNC A&T As I stated in my first post on this, I have ZERO problems with the NCAT hashtag and I understand that the ampersand symbol does not translate well to coding. My problem is that as we entered into the age of social media and cyberspace kids who weren't familiar with our tradition and our name began to mispronounce it because they would only see NCAT online. Now (as I said before) there is an entire generation of kids within the last ten years who walk around publicly referring to us as "In-Cat" instead of "Ayanteee." They completely changed the name of the school. That's insane to me.

Now coding is different from just regular posting is it not ? Respect the Name it's that simple.

That to me is like someone mispronouncing your name . If they are not cognitively challenged they will pronounce my name properly or receive no response from me it should be the same thing and it comes to A&T , NCA&T , AYANTEEE or just T .

The official title of the school is THE Ohio State University. The school simply added THE to the branding in 1986 to help it stand out from other OSU's such as Oregon State, Oklahoma State, etc. A&T never had that problem because as it has been pointed out.....there's only ONE A&T in the country. Calling us A&T in order to shorten the lengthy North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University was ALWAYS acceptable and "Ayantee" became our widely accepted moniker.....until some internet kids came along and decided they wanted to rename the school and nobody corrected them.

We might hate the NCAT moniker but the younger generation loves the tag. Yep, just like they use: - "Stu" for the Student Center - "Darty" for Day Party Of course, quite a few "older" Aggies were a bit beside themselves when I told them about those things. There are STILL some Aggies that won't say Truist Stadium and didn't say BB&T Stadium. They say they'll only call the stadium Aggie Stadium.

I feel like some of yall would be okay with them saying "NCAT Pride" as opposed to Aggie Pride. LOL!! Just let the kids change it all. There are both benefits and dangers in upholding traditions. Protecting out name/brand seems like a pretty simple place to start and no danger whatsoever. If our name can be changed seemingly overnight on the internet by most likely out of state kids who were never really familiar with Ayantee from the jump, then that's an L in my opinion. And I refuse to hold it or excuse it and this will be my official entrance into being a stubborn old head. Lol.

Or as we Michigan alums call it, ohio. GO BLUE! I went to Michigan for grad school. I do not have an opinion on NCAT, as someone stated I think it started a social media thing. I do personally like Ayantee.

I met one kid who referred to out alma mater as N-Cat. Said she wanted to go there. I told her the first thing she needed to do was put some respeck on the name. The second thing she needed to do was apply. At the time I had no idea folks were actually calling Ayantee that. But she stopped doing it.
Saving souls one at a time.
I had a homegirl who went to Howard who called us NC A&T. I interrupted her during a lunch together after the third time and told her “It’s Ayantee, period. There ain’t no other one you need to distinguish.” She started talm bout texas and prairie view and stuff and it was right then and there I coined my phrase “there are many A&Ms but only ONE Ayantee.
I got my degree from A&T. Those two letters mean quite a bit to me. I guess my opinion on protecting it and being unwilling to bend on that is overboard to many. I’ve almost come to blows with people over the AT&T slip up. I’m an Aggie and I’m serious about my sheeet.

I've grown to like NCAT. It's as A&T as Ayantee and "T". The school will evolve and so will the colloquial names students and other will refer to it as. It doesn't take away the mystique of our Aggie Pride.
