I say remove the tennis courts at war memorial stadium If that is actually part of War Memorial then yes. That would be perfect for a softball field and open up that area to do whatever they would like with it.

i don't think we have the resources to even dream about building an indoor practice facility, so i'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
but more realistically, i think field turf either in aggie stadium or the practice field or both is achievable...

I've seen large tent like structures that can be used as practice facilities. Remember we live in North Carolina not Minnesota so it just needs to be dryer and warmer than practicing outdoors. This could also be used by the band when the team isn't practicing.
I'm not sure an indoor facility is the coach's top priority but it would be a nice addition. It definitely would impress recruits.

If you built a regulation indoor track you could corner the local market and make a ton of money from youth organizations. I believe the nearest indoor track is at Wake Forest. The closest indoor facility is the "JDL Fast Track" in Winston. It's not part of Wake Forest. I've been 3 times. It's a great facility, but a University can definitely build a better one. The ceiling of this place is a little low and there are support beams throughout(no football), so it's specifically for track and was probably way cheaper to outfit because of that. In my opinion there is definitely not enough of these facilities in NC. Raleigh/Durham is literally "dying" for one, but space like that is REALLY expensive in the area. As far as A&T goes.....Its way to expensive to build one with indoor track that can host meets AND have a football practice field. You normally have to choose between one that can host meets(no football) OR one that can be used for football practice, but not host official meets. My #1 choice would be an indoor practice facility for track and football. Forget actually hosting the indoor meets. You can still rent it out for practice, clinics, etc....while giving your student athletes better facilities. People are going to hate this, but for any new sports facilities to happen the tailgate area behind the field house will have to go and Laurel St will be the new norm. Only other option would be to move the softball field to War memorial and add the removable fence like big stadiums do when baseball and softball shares a field. No disrespect to softball, but tailgating in the back lot brings in about $20K per year. Get out of my head, Monster... LOL!!!!

The Central Arkansas facility is probably along the lines of what we could afford. It was 1.6 million years ago. Probably would be at least 4 million now. It doesn't have an indoor track, but it houses a huge weight room and 60 yard practice field. Would fit perfectly where the softball field is.

Yeah, that's a small-scale bare-bones facility. But that's doable. Side note... Houston's base salary on the new 10-year deal is $390K... but the booster portion pushes him over $500K per year. They are paying a grip to keep that dude from leaving for FBS.

If TSU can afford an indoor facility we can to. I am sure we could find a sponsor or two to help foot some of the bill to add a couple lanes for the track team. We just produced a future Olympian...we need to continue investing in our track program if we want to produce more Olympians.

FCS alumns invest in their programs. HBCU alumns set expectations of their programs.

Many athletic facilities built have a sponsor or major contributor. I like the talk of building and expanding, who's going to be that sponsor? ;-)

The only way you can put state funds toward something like a athletics facility is that it would have to be able to be used for academic purposes as well and not sports only. That's how App State got their 9,000 seat basketball arena built back in 2000. Its a multi-purpose "community resource " facility.
