GREENSBORO — A&T sets off for the unknown Saturday, opening a football season full of unanswered questions.
At least for its fan base. The coaches and players seem to know what they’ve got.
The Aggies, now in their seventh season under Rod Broadway, should be pretty darn good. The faces hidden inside the helmets have changed. But the program has not.
Broadway paused during the Q&A at his first lunch-with-coach gathering this week. Someone had asked him if his philosophy had changed, if he had adapted things to suit his roster.
He drew in and blew out a few exaggerated breaths.
“As long as I’m breathing, it’s going to be the same,” Broadway said. “And it will never change. That’s our foundation. That’s how we coach. This is what we believe: Stop the run, protect the football and win the kicking game. That’s how we approach every game in every season.”
But don’t be fooled. The Aggies have adapted, and it has nothing to do with game plans. It’s about August, and the long practices leading up to opening day...
