Is Tarik's NFL performance the best all time of any Aggie to play in the NFL? I know Dwane Board had some great performances on defence but how does Tarik's performance rank? Maurice Hicks had a monster game in his first start for the 49ers back in 2004. www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200412120crd.htmTarik's first game was definitely a great one though.

He had a big run in overtime to get them in position to win the game. I believe Mike Nolan was the head coach at that time and he really liked Hicks. He got fired that year and Hicks never really got the chance to be a lead back again.

LOL!! Man, Tarik owns Chicago right now! He's going to make a killing off of endorsements. Tarik Cohen had some Bears fans searching for Jewish connectionchicagotribune.comOf all the questions to emerge since the Bears played their season opener Sunday, here's one you probably didn't expect: Is Tarik Cohen Jewish? While Cohen was busy becoming an overnight sensation after his record-breaking debut, some in the Jewish community were trying to figure out if he's one of the "chosen people." The Jewish Telegraphic Agency's website asked "Is Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen Jewish?" "Cohen" is derived from the Hebrew word for "priest." Jewish sports fans and celebrities were buzzing about the rookie. WSCR-AM 670's Danny Parkins, who is Jewish, tweeted, "Every Jewish Bears fan should buy a Tarik Cohen jersey immediately just on principle." TheFootballGirl.com founder Melissa Jacobs tweeted, "Tarik Cohen can at least be an honorary Jew." TheRinger.com got a bit ahead of itself and "incorrectly stated that Tarik Cohen is Jewish," the sports site said in a correction to one of its articles. "I would say it is very much a Jewish communal thing, partly because we're a minority, to kind of look for affirmation in the general culture," said JTA editor-in-chief Andrew Silow-Carroll. "The few Jewish athletes that there are get an outsized amount of attention." This cultural sports pride is rooted in baseball Hall of Famers Hank Greenberg and Sandy Koufax. "They represent proving that Jews can compete literally on same playing field as non-Jews," Silow-Caroll said. Now, you're probably thinking about the fact Cohen is African-American — and yes, the JTA did confirm through the Bears that he isn't Jewish — but Silow-Carroll cautions about making assumptions based on race. "In the last 20 years, the Jewish community has become a lot more diverse, largely through adoptions," he said. "Drake is African Canadian but he's also Jewish. That's an object of great fascination for the Jewish community and a sign of the times." Sports blogger Ron Kaplan writes about the careers of Jewish athletes, and he often depends on the research of his colleagues at the Jewish Sports Review to determine who's defined as a Jew. Usually, an ahtlete has to be raised Jewish, have a Jewish parent or publicly claim to be Jewish to meet the criteria. "Tarik doesn't fall into any of those categories," Kaplan said. "The Bears had another player, Landon Cohen — he wasn't Jewish either. The Jewish community wants to latch onto any of these people. That's the reason for all this excitement." Silow-Carroll added that former Knick athlete Amare Stoudemire, who plays in Tel Aviv, has a big following among Jewish sports fans, as does fellow non-Jew Rod Carew, who famously wore a Chai necklace. The Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Northern California has inducted non-Jewish players such as Orlando Cepeda and Vida Blue as "mensches" or honorary Jews who exhibit good character. Maybe that's the extent of Cohen's "Jewishness." Actor Michael Rapaport summed up Jewish sports fans' feelings about him: "Tarik Cohen is NOT Jewish but he's welcome to Shabbat dinner anytime he wants."

Hicks' game was a beast. The difference is that Hicks gained 168 total yards on 39 touches. Tarik had 155 all-purpose yards on 16 touches (counting the 3 punt returns for 45 yards). Cohen's fantasy value is going up with Jordan Howard being limited by a shoulder injury. It will be interesting to see how many touches Tarik gets at Tampa... hopefully no more than 20 total, IMO.

Dwaine had a solid decade as a starter with four Super Bowl Rings all during the Joe Montana years. In his 10 NFL seasons, Board recorded 45 sacks and 9 fumble recoveries. He was a member of the San Francisco 49ers' Super Bowl winning teams; Super Bowl XVI, Super Bowl XIX and Super Bowl XXIII as a player, and Super Bowl XXIX as a coach. He's currently the defensive line coach with the Seattle Seahawks.
Not too shabby of a career.

I'm in Tampa now...been here since yesterday. It's amazing how many Chicago Bears license plate frames and flags I've seen on cars here. Calls to the talk radio stations have been about how to contain Tarik.

Tarik is a awesome person and athlete. He has 15 more games to play this season. Let's hope that each game is as great as the last, realizing that some may be mediocre. Hopefully not, but comparing him to other A&T professional players is a bit much at this point in his early career. Some of those players go as far back as to the fifties. If he really has the "it" factor, it will continue to surface and shine. Let's continue to support him.

Tarik did a big no no, but hopefully he will make up for it big time... tried to pick up a bouncing ball between 2 defenders on a punt return.

Yeah, that was bad. I'm glad they left him in the game and he got the next carry.
