As an Aggie with a son who is a recruit, I am totally distraught..My son went to the Phiffer game and he expressed to me that it would be hard for him to consider A&T after they lost to a D2 team. After losing to Roanoke, he said that he was no longer interested in A&T at all..Kind of glad they haven't offered us with the way things are looking right now..

I'm not going to lie, it's hard to see this team struggle so much. I don't even answer my phone to talk to certain people because of the "I told you not to" birds are out and loud. I'm still optimistic that this team will turn it around. I know I'm in the minority, but the talent level is there. The coaches must figure out the right balance of offensive to defensive guys needed to get the chemistry right. We've only played three games so there is a lot left in the season. The key is to gel by Dec 5th, so the guys have 5 or 6 games to straighten this out.
Just my 2 cents! RodJ

rodj and aggie82, I am sorry you've had to endure this. I wish I could trust that the right changes can be made but right now I can't. My take is that Hunt and the grad students have upset what chemistry there was on the team and it's not their fault. Bad decisions have been made about what they're roles should be and they've interpreted those roles literally. There are seniors that got displaced. Robinson didn't take his graduate transfer and immediately start her"just because". And it will get worse as other kids like Doby, Williams, Abdullah, Whitaker fail to see results. I think all of this stems from that single decision.
Bruce Beckford is still doing his thing. He had 38 points and 16 rebounds the other night. Lackey and DJ should be playing more. With no one that can shoot, Bremers should be on the floor more also.

I just realized that this is the first year since I've been an Aggie that early season basketball has ever come close to tarnishing my enthusiasm for Aggie athletics. And that's been nearly 40 years. Even in the midst of what football is doing. Aggie82's comments about what his son said really hurt.
We better beat the "HE-double hockey sticks" out of Central to get me out of this. AGGIE PRIDE!

This is what I was telling some of the moderators on this board. Cy's coaching and results are what is gonna scare current players and potential recruits away......not what any single person prints on this board. 9-23 for 2 years 30% FG shooting <25% 3-point FG shooting Losing to DI, DII, and DIII competition in less than 2 weeks NSS ain't the one scaring players/recruits away from Corbett....guess who is

Your son ain't crazy. Hopefully, after we get a new coach, he'll reconsider and want to be part of the resurrection of Aggie basketball.

I would "push" him back in that direction if there was a change; but right now, I am at an all time low; hence aggie82, i graduated in 82, so I was here during the glory days; I know Sparrow personally, and we still talk.. Knew Joe Binion back in the day..Just saw Ice Griffiths last night. Very good friends with Chuckie B and Corvin. I bleed Blue and Gold basketball...Heck, I was even in on the Joshea Singleton recruiting..he played for me ! Will be at the UNC-G game !

Let me ask you, aggie82 - James Sparrow, Thomas Griffis, Corvin Davis and Chucky Becton......do these dudes ever talk to the A.D., chancellor, or anyone else in "power" and voice their frustrtations about the direction of the basketball program??? These cats were routinely winning 20-25 games yearly. Hey, I'm just a lonely poster. If they haven't done so already, have those guys contact Hilton and/or Chancellor. These dudes have gotta be sick seeing us lose to the likes of Roanoke and Pfeiffer..... hiltone@ncat.edu 336-334-7686

I see people post that there is talent on the team. What is the basis for that statement? Who are you guys really comparing us to? We lose by 40 and 50 to division 1 schools, and also lose to a division 2 and division 3 school. It can't get any worse than that. Why would anyone who knows anything about basketball have anything good to say about what has happened over the last few weeks? What is the basis for any optimism?
Defense is an individual mindset and attitude. But team defense is what wins ball games. If you give up the same amount of points to a D3 team that give up to a high major team, that's an effort issue. A division 1 coach shouldn't have to coach effort and playing hard. That should be a requirement.
At the very least, we should play full court defense, trap and make it an ugly game. Play 10 players and try to wear the other team down. As much as I want to put this on the hiring of Cy, giving up 90 points to a D3 team and losing to a D2 team is on the players.

You can't coach effort, pride or heart each player has to possess these traits.
