North Carolina A&T beats Elon 14-7
ELON, N.C. -- Kwashaun Quick threw a touchdown and Tarik Cohen ran for another as North Carolina A&T held on to beat Elon 14-7 on Saturday.
Quick completed 10 of 18 passes for 94 yards and also rushed for 82 yards for the Aggies (2-1, 1-1). Cohen carried 23 times for 96 yards.
Quick connected with Denzel Keyes from 12 yards for the game's first score with 1:27 left before the break and the Aggies led 7-0.
After missing two field goal attempts in the first half, Elon tied it up 7-7 on a 16-yard touchdown run by quarterback Connor Christiansen early in the fourth quarter.
The Aggies broke into the lead again with Cohen's 13-yard touchdown run with 5:22 to play and held on for the win.
Christiansen finished with 143 yards on 19-of-32 passing for the Phoenix (1-2, 0-1). The Aggies held Elon to just 88 yards rushing.

Good win...Scares me that we cant get a receiver open down field. Also Cohen did a little to much dancing a few times had he just hit the hole would have been sure td's the two times I saw this were sweep plays and he tried to cut back that is usually what happens when the back is trying to do too much to get his team rolling again. instead of cutting and go he exposed himself more than he should. he needs to get smaller in the box that way he will not be so much as a target!

Two weeks to get ready for a pass happy Hampton team Hampton Institute / University has more the just a passing game, they also have a dominant defensive line and decent defensive backs. As much as I hate to say this Hampton Institute may have the best total package on both sides of the ball! on offense they use all of their weapons ie TE lol . and they are not a predictable team! we had better used all two of these weeks productively are A&T is going to be in for a beatdown ! No we won't. Hampton had trouble with containing Kentucky State. Our offense will get rolling against them. We need to be ready for Norfolk and Bethune.

But you're right about players and coaches looking aheadX but we already know Broadway doesn't do that.

Man I love the win but it frightened the heck out of me and it made me very nervous about the rest of the season. Quick is definitely not as fast as he was before his injury and surgery last year and he still cannot pass accurately but...he's the best we got now. His option runs and short passes keep Elon's defense off guard in the second half. It also allow Cohen to get more space to run. Quick gives you just enough to win as long as we don't get too far behind or need a bunch of points.
We're going to win a lot of MEAC games but they will not be easy or pretty. But they will be wins.

A win is a win but am i the only one that felt a little bit better about the UNC loss than the Elon win.
Again any win is a good win, just saying though.

No, the whole UNC game didn't tell me but one thing about our team, we ain't on their level. The win against Elon showed us what we need to really work on, what we can depend on and who we can rely on when we are getting punched in the face. Hey we ain't Ohio State or Clemson. ..we're going to have to scratch and claw for every win. And sometimes we will win ugly...but it's a win.

sabbman...how do you figure that? Hampton barely beat a D2 team that won 3 games last year.

A&T beats a FCS school and are in trouble...Hampton barely beats a TERRIBLE D2 team and they are going to Kill A&T.

We won't know until we play them.
But Hampton moves the ball better than Elon. A lot of those passes Elon was missing, Hampton won't miss. That's the concern.
Elon seems to play us better than they do most teams. They beat Gardner-Webb, but it took triple overtime (and G-W just beat Virginia Union by the whopping score of 13-9).
Playing a team coming off a triple overtime game against a bad team should have been a walk in the park. But that's why we play the games...
We probably went in overconfident. Same thing last year. Elon doesn't necessarily believe the same press.
