I thought we all learned last year that you can't determine the outcomes of these games by simply looking at common opponents. That's a huge misconception. In theory, it seems to work but, we know it doesn't.

We won't know until we play them. But Hampton moves the ball better than Elon. A lot of those passes Elon was missing, Hampton won't miss. That's the concern. Elon seems to play us better than they do most teams. They beat Gardner-Webb, but it took triple overtime (and G-W just beat Virginia Union by the whopping score of 13-9). Playing a team coming off a triple overtime game against a bad team should have been a walk in the park. But that's why we play the games... We probably went in overconfident. Same thing last year. Elon doesn't necessarily believe the same press. I read and article that said VA Union had 13 D1 Transfers and most were FBS players. Yep. I picked them to do some nice things in the CIAA. But they still Union. Should not be close against a Big South team. And I agree comparing scores is pointless and can lead to unrealistic expectations. I just thought it was notable.

They were not gonna let Cohen run back and forth and that was apparent on the first drive. Plus every team has an extra gear on their first home game of the season. I was there and sat right behind the team. The fire was not there, and I'm not sure why. Idk if it was because of last week or the atmosphere at Elon which is lacking. To be honest if it wasn't for Quick making something out of nothing we wouldn't have scored when we did. Quick stayed in the pocket as long as he could with no open receivers and tried to gain positive yards. Raynard never had time to make the right reads, and was not quick enough to scramble out.

Imma say this and hush...Cowan College beat Delaware St. yesterday 31-30. Is it safe to assume that Del. St. Will not win a game.
Secondly, winning ugly is fine with me so long as we win the game. Sounds like last night was an ugly game but, we won...good enough for me.

I think they will win about 4 games hopefully we will not be one of them!

sabbman...how do you figure that? Hampton barely beat a D2 team that won 3 games last year. I saw Hampton play Howard and watched how they executed! , minor has that team ready for MEAC competition. They have a very good quarterback that transferred in, they also have a decent offensive and defensive line. they lost their main running back but the backup is equal to the task. There receivers are very good and the quarterback gets all of the receivers involved including the backs. Hampton has a very well rounded team.

An observation...
After the Shaw game which we assumed our line would dominate there were grumblings that 'oh shaws defensive line was beast'.
After UNC game which we kind of knew our line would struggle we heard there defensive line was dominate.
Now we play Elon which should be an FCS equal and im hearing the same commentary, 'you know Elon was very stout up front'.
Again i'm happy with the win and i'm sure we'll improve as the year progresses but is every team we play going to have a dominate/stout/controlling defensive line or when do we look in thr mirror and realize we've got to get better.
I'm going to preview our postgsme analysis before we even play @ hampton in 2 weeks... 'you know they got some big boys on dline at hampton'.
By the way, I was at the nations classic we should beat howard by 30 unfortunateley they don't have the athletes at the skilled positions, defense is porous and overall team apeed is below average.
Hampton should be a good game

Hanpton's DL is trash. Don't look too much into the Howard game because Howard is trash but the Pirates D couldn't keep The Bison from making it a game.
This is a game where Raynard and the OL will bounce back.

Our depth in defense will be needed, unless the offense clicks.
Cohen as 'decoy' will be needed.
Coaching took what was given, they made the adjustment, it was Quick who kept the rock and confused Elon.
We must work on BOTH QB's. Quick knows how to win a game for us. I hope that we have the luxury to get up on a team and allow Raynard to keep working, or vice versa.

I was at the game and it was a good defensive game both teams took what they could get at the end we gave less and took more and one thing I took from seeing the game so close up was how Tarik is the leader of this team and at the end he lead by example and that run when he was running over and carrying people the O line had to follow his intensity The good is a victory yes we need work but we have a great coaching staff and a week off to make corrections and I saw a lot of new numbers on the field last night hopefully we have help in needed places And once again we had a great turn out it was like we where the home team in the last quarter AGGIE PRIDE

I didn't see Shaw's D line but UNC and Elon both has some bulk on the line. But I think almost every team we face will have some big boys on the line. We just have to have a game plan to negate that size. Last night at Elon, the combination of Quick's running and short passes kept the Defensive line on their heels enough to give Cohen some opportunities to get in space. Will that plan win every week? No, but it was what we went with last night. We may see a totally different game plan at Norfolk.
Hey we can debate stats, match ups, size and scores until we are blue in the face but what matters is we beat the team last night we had to beat and now we prepare for Norfolk.

Yeah I almost forgot how up and down our kicking game has been the past two games. I didn't realize one of our kickers was hurt. Up until the Howard game last year our kicking game was the best in the conference. But when our west coast kicker got hurt we have struggled ever since. Cody was a reliable field goal kicker but couldn't punt. Is he still on the team?
