I was just looking at the 2015 Sept football schedule for NCCU and A&T and both teams have open date on Labor Day weekend. I wonder if we could move the game up to Labor Day just for the year. I don't think it would work but it just a thought. Here are the pros and cons to it.
Pro- Nice Weather Both teams are 0-0 and it the start of football season on Labor Day will bring out folks. Building the momentum off last year game. Players are fresh
Cons- Very crucial conference game to start your season Tradition Both teams having tough ACC games the following week Hard to find a team to put on the schedule at the end of the year If both teams are good at the end of year it would bring a lot of excitement and bucks The level of play would be better since they have played all year long and got the kinks out of the system Students are in school that week.

labor day weekend is a great weekend to open the season because a lot of folk are willing to travel during that weekend and students are just gettting back to campus. i've always been in favor of playing central during labor day weekend even though a conference game would be at stake...

We shouldn't have a Labor Day game. Our first game should begin with UNC. That way we get the entire off season to prepare for them. In addition that gives us a chance to scout them the week before. That strategy worked great for our game against App State.

You honestly think we can beat UNC?

No, but I do think we are capable of making a respectable showing which could help us for an at-large playoff bid.

You honestly think we can beat UNC? It's not what we think, but what the players think.

Leave the Central game at the end of the schedule. If we both keep winning that game will have a big payday for both teams. As for Labor day, I think we should schedule a local CIAA team...WSSU, Fayetteville State, Virginia State or St. Aug. This would be a tune up for the season and if promoted correctly a good payday.

I would rather see one of the other Big South opponents if we can't get WSSU.

Not having a home game on Labor Day leaves $$$ on the table regardless of who you play

Well, it's a done deal. I'd rather play a Big South, SoCon or OVC school (Tennessee State would be my choice), but it's Shaw on Labor Day Weekend.

if the meac was still participating in the playoffs, i'd agree with you, aggierattler. but since we're not, to me it doesn't really matter anymore whether we play pwc's or not. so i'm actually okay with playing shaw during labor day weekend. at least shaw has name recognition with our fanbase. but now that we're out of the playoffs, i'd rather play wssu every labor day weekend if i had my dreathers...

Agree 100%. Strength of schedule no longer matters. Home game vs a recognizable school is all we ever need on Labor Day.
