I just hope that the Jr. college players that coach Small recruit, play like Jr. college players and not like Jr. high players. Some games the present players play like they may be Jr. high players.

Small has absolutely no room for error with this up-coming recruiting class. The JUCO players that he brings in need to be ready to contribute from day one.
We have too many holes that need immediate filling.

He's already designated the 4 main positions for the JUCOs and D-1 transfers - Defensive Line (4), linebackers(4), and running back(3), and quarterback(2).
With 18 offensive linemen coming back, nine freshmen of which he played none, adding the four Prop 48 redhshirts that he recruited this past season, he can go after high school kids everywhere else.

Is the JUCO way really the best way to go? I'm close to a few FAMU alums who years ago were screaming b/c they felt that Billy Joe was really fouling up their program for recruiting this very way that Small is headed. Joe fielded some talented teams from JUCOs and 1-A tranfers, but he also burned bridges with high school coaches around the state, some who are alums, who quit wasting thier kids time talking about FAMU.
I guess this is an act of desperation but I hate this approach.

Well, juco is the worst way to go. But depending on who you ask the man has either one more or two more years left on his contract and has to win now. None of the alums really want to wait around for all his recruits to be juniors and seniors. Realistically most of the skill position guys came from Hayes' last year and will be gone next year. If he wants to keep his job does he have much choice?

seem to me that you critics have alot to say well mark the down he can recuit the best jucos & highschoolers in the nation or the worst but the team will raise up and win and compete for the meac once again and have a good time rubbin it in your faces. have yall ever stop to think that you cant replace 5th year seniors that had experience and heart in one year or replace a player like herb dixon (rip) afraid of nuttin or noone but god and had the heart of ten men in one year no.u either have it or you dont . or replace rico or montray jackson no. u have look at the team situation.
so like i said enjoy it now cause when sept.4 roll around the team has great deal to prove but yet critics will find the worst out of the best in people

Actually, the folks that post on this website are some of the biggest A&T fans on the planet. They are just frustrated by the team's 3-8 finish this season (as I'm sure you and your teamates were) and badly want to see things turn around in a hurry. However, despite our gripes and complaints sometimes, we are all loyal supporters of the A&T players and coaching staff who work so hard to uphold the blue and gold.
Thanks for all your hard work and good luck next season.

You will also notice that the thread starter is a very new poster(only 3 posts). We are FANS with a capital "F".... and this is what fans do. We support you with our cheers and our contributions but we will always challenge the adults in charge (coaches, ADs, adminstrators) to never settle for mediocrity and always strive to overcome every obstacle to be the best. The helmet on my avatar means a great deal to us and always remember that Aggie Pride is more than just a saying. It wasn't until after I graduated that I truly understood. Know that BDF will follow and support you wherever you play. Last season is over and now is the time to focus on 2005. The championship shall return to Aggieland! Good luck and keep working hard during the offseason.

JUCOs on the offensive line really helped us out of a tight spot a few years ago. Who knew Victor Marte and Chris Kinloch would produce like they would? I think we went on to win the conference that year, or come close.
Anyway, I look at a JUCO player as a high schooler with experience. The flip is you only have em for 2 years usually. I just hope we can find some decent ones because the majors pick through JUCOs also.
