'Go-go' Aggies looking for leaders
By Jeff Mills/News & Record jeff.mills@news-record.com | Posted: Monday, August 25, 2014 3:51 pm GREENSBORO — And so the Aggies venture forth into the Great Unknown, into a TV time-slot that makes them the only option in a channel-surfing nation starved for college football for seven long months. N.C. A&T will open this season against Alabama A&M at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in sunny Florida, one of just four college games scheduled smack in the middle of Labor Day weekend. The teams will play in the 10th annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Orlando, not far from Disney World. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN. That’s a lot of eyeballs. And a lot of pressure. But it’s something else, too, said Denzel Keyes, the thoughtful sophomore from Kinston who plays football and basketball at A&T while majoring in chemistry. “It’s a great opportunity,” said Keyes, a wide receiver who caught six passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns in seven games last year. “We’re going to be ready to play. … We’ll be ready for the stage. The (national) stage shouldn’t play a factor in the game.” Speed, however, could be a factor. This is the fourth season of Coach Rod Broadway’s rebuilding project at Lindsay and Sullivan streets. Broadway arrived after national signing day in 2011, recruited only a kicker and went 5-6. The next two recruiting classes, which helped the Aggies to back-to-back 7-4 records, are at the heart of this year’s team. And those classes were built for speed. This is going to be a perfect weekend...I'm going to Charleston with my whole family for the holidays and my Aggies will be on national TV on Sunday. I cannot wait to be huddled around the TV Sunday with snacks and a big cold glass of ice tea. It don't get much better than this. By the way, don't forget Blue Death Valley fans, if you are going to the game please keep those update texts coming during the game.

Can't wait until Sunday , I was at practice yesterday and boy the offense was on fire. During the passing drills I watched Quick throw 5 TD passes in a row . I have the utmost faith in our coaching staff to have this team ready for this game. If the QB can manage the game and hit the open receivers ,with our potent run game ,and killer D , this year will be special .

man, i’m so excited to see this game on tv! just can’t wait! i’m dying to see what cartwright looks like running out of our backfield. i have high expectations for him. he’s the “perfect” complement to cohen. talk about “thunder (cartwright) and lightening (cohen)”!
cartwright will take a lot of the pounding off of cohen and give the defense a completely different look, but every bit just as lethal as cohen. i can see them both spelling each other during games to keep their legs fresh, which means a lot of trouble for most defenses. this should be the best “1, 2 punch” we’ve had in our backfield in a very long time! and the best part is that they’re both very young and have several more years reaping terror on opposing defenses...

talk about “thunder (cartwright) and lightening (cohen)”! Oleschool please hold off with the nicknames.....lol. It seems like giving players nicknames is equivalent to putting them on the cover of Madden. Remember "No Fly Zone".......Just kidding....I cant wait for the game! I was thinking about Frankie Phenom earlier this morning. Is he #3 on the depth chart now?
No one is talking about conditioning. Are we going to be able to finish the game on Sunday? With temperatures soaring into the mid-90's on Sunday in Orlando, will conditioning be a factor? The Aggies should win on Sunday but they have to close out the game and the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M are used to the heat - more so than our Aggies.
I plan to attend early church service (saying a special prayer for our team) and then watch the game online from work (yes, I have to work on Sunday).
Let's go Aggies!

The 'Thrilla Jinx lives on....Frank Foster didn't have a chance...lol...
That said...everything happens for a reason...I won't be surprised when I see Foster in meaningful game action later this season...

I am sure that "Funky B" has pushed conditioning as a must because Sunday around 12noon in central Florida its gonna be blazing!!! Sunday's forecast calls for a high of 94 w/40% chance of rain. It's good that we have a talented full squad because we can now give playas a blow when they need it most (like in central Fla.)
