Maybe this isn't realistic, but as long as we're gonna keep Fobbs and lose like we are, we need to cut his budget/pay and dump it into basketball. This is based on simple finance. ROI, i.e. "Return on Investment". If you keep losing stock in something, why would you continue to invest in it? Meanwhile.....
That basketball programs are absolutely going in the right direction. Eaves took a disaster that "Wide Leg" Curtis Hunter left and won 15 games. The atmosphere in Corbett is electric win, lose, or draw and while Fobbs was finishing a winless season last year, the Aggie men actually beat SMU in Dallas (SMU's home city). All of this, on a small budget. What would he do if he got more money?
The best kept secret on the whole campus is the girls basketball team. Listen people, we have two girls on our team that could be playing in the ACC and that is no lie. We have a freshman that was the number 17 player in the nation last year. We have the MEAC freshman of the year (Tweet) and a preseason favorite for MEAC player of the year (Amber). All of this on a terrible budget!!! That freshman came all the way from Pennsylvania and I know they didn't give the girls bball coaches any money for a flight. They probably had to drive to Penn. several times during the course of the season. And this team is winning!!!!!!!!!!
So here's the thing. If we cant' fire FiascoFobbs and we can't buy him out, why should we support him financially? Make him recruit in-state and spread the love to the coaches that are actually doing something, you know, just like you would do with your investments.
Just a thought.

It's not a bad idea. ...Curtis "wide leg" Hunter. That's classic Yeah, you remember all that fabric he used to wear don't you? He took wide legs to an all new level. He knew how to make a terrible season look good. lol But on a serious note, cut the budget. lmao

That is not going to happen!!!!!!!! I agree for the following reasons: 1. There is more interest and following in football than in any other collegiate sport. 2. Football will always carry the biggest budget/overhead even if you reduced it to the bare bones so you would like to see some return on all of that money. 3. No Aggie wants the program to become the Morgan State of the 1980's and 1990's or even worst a Maryland Eastern Shore that did away with football. 4. You have to have some integrity or why would you have a football team (Of course most HBCUs administrations have no integrity when it comes to supporting other sports outside of football).

He knew how to make a terrible season look good. lol But on a serious note, cut the budget. lmao The Hunter hiring by Renick was a precursor to the type of hiring Renick will continuously make. Renick continue to only look at the institutions the future hire was associate with, without closely looking at the person he was hiring. Whether or not they could do the job with limited support and if they had a history of doing the job in a satisfactory manner with success. He saw Curtis's connection to UNC-Chapel Hill and Dean Smith and did not take into account Hunter's inexperience as a college coach. Renick also did not take into account that he would need to 'shore up' Hunter's shortcomings by providing enough financial support by hiring two full time experienced assistant coaches that most successful colleges basketball programs have. And now you see it in his last hire, the head football coach, and you all know the rest of the story on that one.

I agree, but damn I want SOMETHING to happen. I'm just brainstorming. I think our football program is all but done, with the leadership we have in the athletic dept. I know we can't shut it down or even cut the budget in half, but do you want to be known by football or basketball now right now? Furthermore, there is a side of me that believes the seniors we have coming back will be fools gold. The leader will be the same and he doesn't have a clue. We have gone winless for 2 straight years and will probably have a losing season next year. Why would any coach with credibility take the job and why would any really, really good player come here anymore? We have nothing to offer them but a free education and they can go to a winning school and get that. You, Me, Freeze, Econgrad, Dooms, Decks etc may have the pride......but the fact is that we are losers to everyone on the outside looking in. Damn.

keep fobbs budget where it is... if he can't win with everything that has been given to him... chances are he never will... if hayes or small had what he has to work with we would be a national contender yr. in & yr. out...
on the other hand... we expect eaves to continue to improve bball with a bare minimum recruiting budget... excuse me... recruiting stipend... hell he has 7 seniors to replace & $20,000 to do it with..... wthf..... people at a&t don't want a bball coach... they want a freaking magician...!!!
we have an AD who came in here saying we're going to do it the acc way... i don't know any acc school that treats it's men bball program the way she does... but that idiotic thinking goes back farther than her... just ask corbett...
the men bball program brings in big dollars... because that's where the money is... in men bball... i think more people are beginning to realize that... but it has taken the complete collapse of a football program for people to REALLY pay attention to bball.... & even question why they don't at least have a recruiting budget that allows them to broaden their recruiting pool....
