Daddyaggie you better try and patent that Big Boy drawing before someone tries to steal your idea. I think it's pretty cool.

Has Morgan State won a game since beating A & T last season? Howard had close to 500 yds in total off against ODU And most of those yards (320) came in the first half vs ODU starters. The score would have been a little closer if not for 5 HU turnovers. This may be the most potent offense we'll face this season. I think our offense will have to score at least 28 points.

Just got back from talking to Earl Hilton. He said they are gonna move the student section and the band over to the visitors side for Thursday night.
He said the ESPNU cameras are broadcasting from the top of the press box so it is not feasible to move them at this time, but he was aware of the visual problems and wanted as many people on the opposite side of the field as possible. Season ticket holders included.

Treese,
Thanks for the posting about Jackson State. We could do something similar to that, for example, have a Triad Student Night and invited students from all the colleges in the Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem area for $5 or $10 per student and have music in the Fan Zone for a couple hours before/after the game.

It dam shawl didn't help them much in the attendance looks department. Of course, that stadium seats over 60,000 so it's going to look empty unless they get over 40,000 in there.
And man did it look empty.

That game was hard to watch too...so many penalties, Geez! It's a trade-off there too because, folk that would normally travel in from out-of-town to attend a game on a Saturday may not be able to attend a Thursday nite game. I'm using myself as the case and point, I planned on attending the Howard game but, when they moved it to Thursday, it became a no-go...I'm traveling from the DMV area.

You guys have presented a unique challenge for our sports marketing department...how to fill the stands with local fans when games are on a weekday. To be honest, I don't think A&T is trying anything different for next Thursday's game. At least I haven't heard of anything different. I know we've beaten this dead horse a bunch lately about ticket prices but this game would be a great place to test a "special price on general admission." We know that a lot of our out-of-town fans are not showing up in the middle of the week when the game is televised. So there will be more empty seats than usual. Why not fill them at $5 or $7 for general admission? Why not "donate" 50 or 100 tickets to every junior high and high school in the area. (These kids can probably can stay up that late on a school night) Plus they may bring a parent or paying friend with them. Let's go to the top employers in Greensboro and "donate" 50 tickets for their employees that want to attend.
Okay, I know I'm going to get hit hard for these suggestions but we need to shake things up more if we want to increase our attendance.

Those are good ideas, however, they would need to get moving if they were to roll them out. But, I'll say this too...if the game isn't blacked out in the Triad area then, we would be pissing in the wind anyway. Why would your casual fan pay if they can see the game on tv? That's the biggest challenge I see. Otherwise, if the administration is flexible enough to try new initiatives to get butts in the seats, then we should have a decent crowd. But, I'd say competing with tv is almost a no-win situation.

Last year's Thursday nite game was our highest attended game after homecoming so the opportunity for a good turnout is there. The best thing in our favor is we're not having home games on consecutive weekends. Playing Howard should also add a couple thousand more. I'm estimating around 15,500.

if we could get 15k against howard, i'd be happy with that. especially if we move some of our crowd to the visitor's side...
