i don't think fobbs is that high on nc talent since most of his coaches come from the gulf coast... there is a kicker at eastern guilford who is booting kick-offs out the endzone... punts good & high... & is a pretty good place kicker.... his coaching specialist used to kick at ecu....
our present kicker can't get a kick-off past the 20yd line... plus he gets no height on his kicks... it puts a lot of pressure on the defense....

You really think that kid will come to a winless A&T? You think nobody else will be after him? Come on now...
I'm all for bashing a guy for stuff that he actually does. But I posted in the private forum a while ago that there are around 30 football playing colleges in the sate of NC. You pretty much have to recruit out-of-state, especially if you are a new coaching staff at a school that hasn't won in a while and fired the coach that made the best in-state inroads in school history.
If I was him I'd have several in-state guys on staff (like, uhhhh, Coach Stewart) so as to make inroads. But I ain't him. If he was me he'd probably take more cases to trial.
I'm sure that as they continue to coach they will make more and more progress in-state. This ain't Delaware. It's a big state with a lot of nooks and crannies. It takes time to get established. Until then they can only successfully recruit from where they know. Looking at some of the guys we've brought in I'd say that they must be pretty good at working the living room.

i do not want to ruffle any feathers on your bandwagon of whinners, but this program was already headed to hell with gasoline drawers on before todd or fobbs were apart of this mess. This program has been on the decline for the past 5-6 years. this crap will take seasons to get on the right track again. does anyone realize that this freshman class is fobbs first, he has had to work with players that were losers when he got here. they will not win because they don't know how to win or don't care about winning. until he gets his own players in & the recruiters get both feet in the door with the area hs coaches, this program will rebound but not as the pace the fans would like. The staff has made some terrible game mistakes but so has the players, if you want to get rid of one , then you should really start over & get rid of them all. this program was a loser before he got here. Keeping all that in mind, my son still chose to come here because he belives that A&T will rebuild and become the powerhouse that it once was. He came here to win & the players they are recruiting will come here to win, but in the meantime deal with the crap that this coach & his players will have to clean up to make this team a winner

Well stated Aggiedaddy. Also the program has been funded by Renick for six years.

Since 2002 we have had 3 different chancellors, 2 different AD's and 3 different coaches. What we need is stability. It's hard to get anything accomplished with all these changes happening. I pray that Fobbs and Dee get it done soon or that instability will continue because they will have to be replaced also.

Actually Renick did it for 7 years. He probably could have done a better job of funding but he did more in 7 years than Forte did in almost 20 years. All of that is in the pass, so now we have to deal with the problems that we face now. How do we get it done.

thanks aggie one- there's more players like that on the way---- hey aggieman007, besides several several several terrible play calls made by the staff, how many punt returns, kickoff returns, rushes, passes, muffed punts, fumbles,INTERCEPTIONS, blocked punts & anyother boneheaded way other teams have scored on us, were actually the players fault & had nothing to do with the coaches- they will do what it takes to win- but that will be with guys who want to win, not guys who were already losing---- ONCE AGAIN I SAY TO ALL YOU SUPPOSED AGGIE FANS DEAL WITH IT !!!!!!!!! some of your attitudes are worst than the teams

I would hit to JUCO's hard..... Those are the only players that are going to come to an 0 and whatever team........... I kinda disagree with you there. here is this question presented to me in the private forum with my answer. It needs to be here anyway. Oct 10, 2007, 8:02am, aggiejazz wrote:Aggie Monster, Are you hearing high school players backing off on visiting A&T? I have run across two cases. Of course in football there is never a shortage of recruits. A recruiter just have to know what he is looking at to know you have a good player. My AnswerNo, when i talk to kids they are just excited to be getting looks from anybody. What I'm hearing is that A&T isn't even showing interest. Maybe it's because of our mutiple coaching changes over the last few years and it is taking a while for the new staff to get familiar with NC high school football. Smalls crew could have started making contacts but then they all fell through the cracks when he was let go. The thing that surpises me is that the kids in NC know about A&T's history and are not against going to A&T at all. To them A&T is still the top HBCU for EVERYTHING. They understand A&T's alumni is deep and wont stand for it, but they will choose Elon or App over A&T right now. Some say stuff like "Oh yeah, I would love to go to T(them using jsut the letter T lets me know they know alumni or current students), but they haven't contacted me or coach." If you contact a kid in Jan or Feb instead of letting your interest be known back in October/November then the kid kind of feels like sloppy seconds. A simple letter to the house or school saying "hey, we see you" would go a long way. I just think our way of contacting kids and keeping them interested in coming is not as good as the other schools. I'm not sure if it's an HBCU thing or what, but when I ask kids that I THINK are DivIAA material who has contacted them or shown interest they always run off all the white schools. They run off schools like Elon, App, Catawba, and Western Carolina, but not any HBCUs. So maybe we are doing something wrong as Universities. Maybe we need to take a looong look at our approach and make some adjustments. I dont think we even utilized that whole text message thing when it was legal. For NC it is even more important to have plans in place becaue you got waaay more competition than almost any other state. Because honestly, DivIII(might be D2 now) Catawba would kick the sheeet out of us. Even in the 90s they would have beaten us a view times. That's where my wife went so we keep up with them a little. They have team 7on7 passing league camps over the summer. It's actually a big deal for teams to go to Catawba for team passing league. At least 3 triangle teams went this past summer. Not only does that let you see kids in action up close but also allows you to meet several high school coaching staff personally for a few days. It's just common sense to do stuff like that. Name ONE HBCU that host a passing league camp? It's not even instructional. the kids just come and compete. Check THIS OUT: Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake, Catawba, App, and Elon all had a passing league camp over the summer for highschools to attend. UNC charges teams to stay over night but then invites local schools to come and compete during the day for free if they have space. Maybe that's where Blue Death's fundraiser money could go? Hosting a passing league camp to show off facilites and make some high school coaching contacts. That's part of recruiting. You think holding the last few games of a camp in Aggie Stadium using the replay board wouldn't be impressive? $@#%! Dont think that these kids dont get pulled to the side at these camps. It doesn't even count as a visit. UNC even had a "Special" section to send there "college material" to show off their skills. CATCH UP people!

i am not talking about the mental mistake the kids are making. The coaching is just bad work with what you have mold the kids set standards. Teach on kick off stay in the lanes and teach the QB to read defenses. don't KEEP SAYING I will win w my kids
and i thank you for sendings your son to A&T

What are they doing in practice? These types of constant repeating mistakes have everything to with coaching. These are mental errors, correctable through repetition and situational game planning. Physical disadvantage can’t be corrected in practice. If it takes all practice to execute one play to precision then that’s what it takes.

hmmm...i would like to know....why was A&T the only HBCU in NC that was not at my high school's college day? The varsity football players were given extra time to talk to the representatives from each each present college...alot of the football players were looking for A&T's booth, but there was not ant A&T representatives present...oh well...too bad...well, WSSU, FSU, NCCU, Shaw, St. Aug, and ECSU sure did get ALOT of recruits from my school (Fike High School; Wilson, NC)

The recruiter for the triangle area I believe is Dwike Wilson. Well he has Vance, Warren, Granville, Franklin, areas I know. Let me tell you a little story about his visit to my school. Now most college recruiters come to see me dressed in khaki's, slacks, you know nice dress pants or whatever. They will also have something on establishing what school they are coming from, a polo, jacket, sweater, something. Well this guy comes in with jeans and loafers on. He has a white button down shirt (first few buttons un-buttoned) with a black blazer. Mind you, the collars of the shirt was out. Now I thought the brother was fly, no doubt. The problem was that it didnt represent A&T well. He really looked like he was going to the club or something. It especially looked bad, when I walked him back to the front and NCCU coaches were waiting to speak with me dressed in slacks and a NCCU long-sleeve polo. Little things count on the recruiting trail, and I know for a fact that this guy came across very wrong with some of the other area high school coaches I've spoken with.
