I wonder if Coach Fobbs will use the 3-5-5 defensive scheme against Morgan . I would try to put a lot of guys up on the line and force Morgan to throw. You might get beat 1-2 times but I rather have that than a 300 yd rushing performace with Simpson, Green, and Selby.

I guarantee you we would kick Morgan to sleep if Coach Fobbs is able to put three down linemen, five linebackers and five dbs on the field at once.
That is a great idea Jeff.
Seriously though, Morgan is going to get their yards running the ball. I've seen them twice. They are doing exactly what Small and co. wanted to do here at A&T. Run the ball, pass every once in a blue moon, and stop the run. Bullyball, we'll call it.
They have a receiver that will beat us all game. His name is Rod Wolfe I think.

Uhh.. Jeff.. 3-5-5.. We could beat LSU with that defense.. That happens to be 13 men on the field.. Let's get our calls correct if you want to make sense.. but how you slow the run is cover the center and both guards... That way the tackles work harder to block faster guys... it's called a tight 3-5-3... but it looks like a 5-2 defense.. Well as you'all can see I am a coach.. I just love this football talk...!

Thanks for the correction. We will also need a spy on the QB since Selby can run the ball. I think in the classic two years ago in DC he rushed for over 100 yds

well thet tight 3-5-3 make the middle linebacker or backside backer the spy, of r bootlegs and rollouts.. it's a great defense but requires discipline. LSU runs it a lot with 4 d-lineman but he actually drops into coverage a lot.. But we have to keep running that ball.. give the D' some rest. Minimize the mistakes. We have to make it happen.. My frustration is starting to get the best of me.. Let make it happen AGGIES!!!

From what I've seen of Morgan they run off tackle a lot. A LOT. They do not give up on trying to establish the run.

Nine in the box. Coach Lee does that anyway. If our qbs don't get sacked or rattled they can have a career day against that defense.

Their corners did a good job against Hampton. You know how Hampton loves that aerial attack and they had a good opportunity with 9 in the box. I think we'd probably do better with the screen pass. Hope Fobbs has been practicing that all week!

Hope Fobbs has been practicing that all week! Screen pass? That would be counter to my thinking. In that you have to get behind the box or spread the box out. The screen would seem play in to the strength of the box by keeping the box concentrated at the line of scrimmage. Since most screens develop behind the line and takes timing, I’m thinking any plays that take time to develop will not be a good idea against this Morgan defense.

If the staff was able to get game tape of the second half of that game we played against Southern in Vegas they would know exactly what to run to be successful. In the second half Southern just popped a pass over the blitzer's head every time somebody came and they got around 10 yards every play doing it. Lee never adjusted.

Well, not necessarily a screen pass, but more like what DOOMS was talking about, popping a pass over the blitzer's head. Cause they will be blitzing!
